Road Trip Effect Pro 2.8.1 (Mac OS X)

Unfortunately...

... for the developer, I have a Mac with iLife '09, so I have the comparison to pretty much the same feature in iMovie, only in SUPERB QUALITY and even easier to use! This stuff just looks SO *free PC clip-art CD* and also no option for 3D. Sure, may be a little more flexible in terms of maps and inundating your screen with lines, but since it just plain LOOKS crap, it's useless. Oh, and iMovie is FREE. [alert admin]

Snapz Pro X 2.1.4 (Mac OS X)

VERY long in the tooth!

Sorry, but with the advent of amazing tools such as SCREEN FLOW for movie capture and even LAYERS or FREE tools such as JING for screen capture, I have no idea who could possibly still consider spending that kind of cash for THIS tool. It's comparatively SLOW and inflexible and doesn't use system level technology e.g. Core Video for amazing results like the first two aforementioned tools.

Snapz had it's days, but as far as I'm concerned, those days are LONG gone. At the very latest since Leopard.

If you need a truly great screen capture tools that are up to speed with TODAYS possibilities, then check out the tools above and spend a few bucks more and not regret it, unlike if you actually spent 79 bucks (ouch!!) on Snapz, which I in fact did a long long time ago, which I don't in fact regret, since like I said, it WAS a great tool in it's days.

The ONLY time I would say Snapz could be the way to go is if you actually STILL don't work with Leopard. [alert admin]

Final Draft 7.1.3 (Mac OS X)

TRASH THIS...

... steaming lump of poo! It's the Quark Express of screenwriting software!! And as far as I'M concerned, apps like "Montage" are the InDesign's for this area! I'll be glad to see instable, ugly FD booted from it's pompous throne ASAP. The software is conter-intuitive and looks like something someone glued together with a clip-art CD from Microsoft, anno 1993! Even STILL at version SEVEN?? Hello?? There are crossgrades to be had from Montage etc... GET 'EM. To hear that FD is somehow the "industry standard" is hilarious! WHAT standard is that?? Gee, I've heard that WINDOWS is too! Hmmm... do I sense parallel's here? It's a freakin' WORD PROCESSOR with special feature's! In the day and age of PDFs(!!), who gives a flying rat's behind which app my script comes from??! Aside from the fact, that if you have some cheapo, cramped collaborator who won't grow up long enough to switch, the other BETTER apps usually export to FD anyway! [alert admin]

More iChat Smileys 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Almost useless under Leopard...

... because all the smilies/icons that are wider than the default width are SQUISHED horizontally. So until that is fixed, only 2 Stars from me, since I've been using them for ages and really like them otherwise. And the fact that the person that you're chatting with needs them too is a GIVEN... don't be stupid! [alert admin]

GrandPerspective 0.99 (Mac OS X)

Useless Eye Candy

The interface is so cluttered and unintuitive and just plain frightening and pointless (since what the point if it scares you?)! If you need a tool that won't make your eyes bleed and send you wondering "what the...?!" and simply does what it says, then go for WHATSIZE! By FAR the better tool, true to the old adage: LESS is (much!) MORE. [alert admin]

Media 100 11.5 (Mac OS X)

Who ACTUALLY still buys this??!

Sorry, don't get it. I had several M100's (P6000) in the past, and maybe back in 1995 it still made SOME sense to invest in one, but TODAY? Sorry, but the only reason I ever even considered using the unintuitive, incapable software was because I HAD TO, since there was no other way to use the hardware. But if that hadn't been the case, then I would have chucked the CRAP software on day one. Looking at packages such as Final Cut (even Express!) or even Premiere, I see ZERO reason why I should actually PAY for anything Media100 has left to offer. Same goes for AVID by the way. Makes NO economical, practical or even technical sense! I work in a Studio with FIFTEEN FCP and TWO AVID suite's (the M100's are LONG gone, fortunately)... gee, guess which of those take FAR more time and money to keep running smoothly, let alone to get to work decently with other programs that one needs for one's professional workflow nowadays??

Obviously: the AVIDs!

P2 support?? Works with AJA Products?? Oh geeeee... already??! That only makes them about two+ years late! That should get them up to speed by, what? 2024? Too bad they have celebrated their 12th or so bankruptcy by then, one of which will finally be terminal. Or maybe AVID will by them. To hold hands as they go down together... :-D [alert admin]

DasTelefonbuch Widget V1.2 (Mac OS X)

Schade. [alert admin]

Sagem F@st 8xx and 9xx USB drivers 3.0.3d (Mac OS X)

What CRAP support...

After trying to get this crap to work under Tiger after updating, I actually ended up having to call SAGEM IN FRANCE (since SAGEM GB had ZERO clue on the matter... hooray for them!) to FINALLY get a driver that actually WORKS! NO idea why, but the only functional driver they have can't even be found on their site, but rather only HERE:

http://lgsagem.free.fr/drivers_fast800.htm !

The direct download of the version 4.0.3 is HERE:

http://lgsagem.free.fr/Telechargement/DriverFast800/Macintosh/SAGEM%20F@st%20800%20v4.0.3.zip

If you actually follow the bizarre installation instructions it actually works... AT LAST!!

I've never experienced such lame support and that from an international company such as SAGEM. No ReadMe's or anything along with the software, so you have no idea if you're even CLOSE to the version you need (as in Version History or What's New?? Ever hear of that, Monsieur's??)

NOT recommended! [alert admin]

FontDoctor 7.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Now THAT'S "la-dee-da" if I've ever seen it!!

A simple ONE LINER posted here by Morrison after having wiped out several people's APP FOLDER??!

Sorry, but I had planned to try this, but don't think I'll participate in supporting a company that has such a disconcerting attitude. You'd think at LEAST they start out with a mere "Sorry..."

Wow. That's frightening. [alert admin]

No, not "79 bucks (ouch!!)"

LOL... facts?? Like which?? Are you in some way actually suggesting that SNAPZ can keep up with the feature set of ScreenFlow??! OUCH... full fail, since you quite obviously haven't even seen the DEMO of SF let alone USED it... brainless blathering, nuthin' more. And btw., Jing can be used for LOCAL saving of both videos and stills and the fact that it's FREE and can do anything SP can (plus more!) pretty much cancels out any…

didn't work at all. waste of bandwidth

The only thing "DUH" is the the fact that you're trying to use some other app for iPod conversion even tho the Quicktime PLAYER or even iMovie will do it for you! WTF would you need a 3rd-party app for that??!

Oh please...

... what a retarded response! Well gee, Einstein, then I guess you ask yourself why, if Mac OS X is so much better than Windows, why it only has less than 10% marketshare, huh??!! Or how ELSE does your so keen logic work?? Moron. Final Draft is CRAP nonetheless! And that's a GREAT question: why IS it the most recommended??! You tell me! Have you ever seen "Montage"?? Ever see how THAT'S an intuitive and MAC LIKE…

How To Use It

1. that's bs, you don't have to hold ANYTHING to place something in the Finder toolbar. You can just drag it up, but the spot where it'll accept it is small and to the left... duuh! 2. TWO shameless, self-serving plugs for one's site in a comment is just plain LAME. l2l

Too expensive.

wow, gene, we're so proud of you. Next you just have to actually GET what the point of this tool is. No, NOT for giving alleged "legit's" a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, sorry. And by default the most stuff is already listed, such as browser's and the like. No idea what you've been mucking around in the prefs. After two days MAX you don't hardly ever hear from LS anymore, unless of course when…
