Things 0.9.0.3 (Mac OS X)
In the past year I've tried every GTD app ever created for the Mac. Many were good, all seemed to have their strong suites, especially the top three, but their commonality was they all lacked at least something crucial. There didn't seem to be any one GTD app that covered all the bases (at least "my" bases, anyway). That is, until I stumbled across "Things". This product isn't even to the release point yet and already it's just a hair above awesome! As soon as them finish the printing feature and a few other items, it will not only be ready for prime time...but the GTD apps already taking up positions 1-5 better get ready to take a back seat. I've been using GTD only a few days and already it's in the top most used apps on my Mac, along with 1Password, NetNewswire, and Apple Mail. What they've done with tags in Things is so simply...yet so elegant, and it completely does away with all those messy columns you see in the other GTD apps. Try it out...it's free until it releases, but even then I'll be one fo the first to pay for it. LarryMcJ [alert admin]

BusySync 1.5 (Mac OS X)
Perhaps the negative feedback from the last reviewer is because of using the latest beta version? I'm using the latest release version (1.5) and I've been using the product for several months. I would not want to go back to life without this little gem. My wife and I both have hectic schedules and it keeps our calendars in sync better than anything I've tried yet. All that said, coming from a software development environment myself, I think considering the size of this app and the programming that went into it, the price is a bit high, given you have to buy a license for each machine it's installed on. I think we often get swayed by super slick websites and apps with fancy GUIs and forget the real reason we use an application to begin with. File Synchronization is everything you could want in this type of app. I use this several times daily to sync certain folders/files to my laptop so it's always current when I need to travel (this also provides a backup of my important files should something happen to my Time Machine backup). The developer answers email almost immediately and doesn't hide behind "we don't do individual support" signs like many others. Simple and intuitive interface give it a short learning curve. FoldersSynchronizer 3.6.2 (Mac OS X)
I'd love to purchase this app...if only it worked! The only way it will keep folders on a laptop in sync with a desktop is via FireWire! Everytime you setup a sync and use the mounted laptop disc folders as the destination...it says "insufficient privileges...log in as root" but that doesn't work either. Am I missing something here? If this won't sync file/folders what good is it? Larry [alert admin]

Smultron 2.2.6 (Mac OS X)
Cross-platform line break issues
I was hoping Smultron might have a feature whereby I could save a .txt file and move it across my network to a Windows machine and now have all the line breaks munged. But as nice as Smultron appears, I don't see this listed as a feature anywhere on their site. Does anyone know of a text editor that is truly cross-platform in this regard? It doesn't have to run on Windows...just so NotePad or any Windows text editor can see the same document I created on my Mac. Thanks. LarryMcJ [alert admin]

IMHO, you're absolutely correct. With Gmail available via IMAP in any email client, including Apple Mail and iPhone, why would you want a separate app on your desktop? This looks to me like just pretty wrapper on Gmail, which can't possibly be as robust or as integrated into other apps (like iCal) as using Apple Mail. LarryMcJ

Nice that its now freeware, but...
I couldn't have said it better! I paid for it, too...so what. Get over it!

Maybe they're responsive once you register the product, but their website says to email them for a full featured timed version and so far I've not had any reply. Their downloadable demo is insufficient to test the app. LarryMcJ
