Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.0 (Mac OS X)
Wow after just 1 click (and about 30 seconds) you are ready for Email using Entourage....makes the 2 second start time of Apple Mail seem arrogant somehow. Also love the little wait each menu has before appearing--lets me know the computer is working for me. At Microsoft, it's all about performance. [alert admin]

Adobe DNG Converter & Camera Raw 3.1 (Mac OS X)
So how come this update can't happen through the update checking feature of the software? And how come installation instructions are not included. You can bet if someone breaks the (draconian, punish-the-legal-user) copy protection scheme of CS2 that Adobe will have that update system working perfectly to "fix" that issue. Adobe is a rudderless, horrible company, rapidly becoming worse than Microsoft. [alert admin]

Apple Motion 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Thanks for this...late though it is. Now how about fixing the bad browser bug that causes Safari to fail unless you click twice on an url. It's like we are now using a third world browser or crappy Soviet technology. [alert admin]

Homeworld 2 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)
Apparently due to a Nvidia driver problem, the game is unplayable on a new G5 iMac. Also on all Macs, it seems to set your mouse tracking speed to a very slow setting. Aspyr is aware of the problem but have not noted it on their support site. They should. Playing on my dual 2.0 mhz the game is fantastic! And it even runs great on my G4 powerbook. But beware if you have one of the new iMacs. [alert admin]

Apple hates no one more than its customers
Was it really beyond the ability of the Apple engineers to at least put the shuffle on the main menu for 3G or earlier customers? Of course not. But then, of course, Apple couldn't properly show its disdain for their sorry hapless customers. You 4G customers should realize that Apple has undoubtedly held back some features for the next generation--so that they can screw you, too! Lance [alert admin]

Just wanted to mention that the QT 6.4 upgrade contains a showstopper bug for those of us using Final Cut Pro 4. It seems that any timeline in FCP that mixes media codecs (like say, DV material and an animation codec graphic) will not play and the never-ending beachball will freeze the program requiring a force quit. Many folks are reporting that they cannot even open their projects. The QT 6.4 readme suggests upgrading to FCP (mentioning DV improvements and better workflow). Obviously even casual testing by Apple would have revealed this bug prior to the release and they could have warned their hapless users. However even casual testing by Apple is apparently beyond the support they are willing to provide so many of us are now dead in the water. [alert admin]

Apple Final Cut Pro 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)
that they are working on Stand Alone updaters (in the FCP forum). So now will all of the hipsters with no internet connections please STOP THE NOISE and let people slightly further along the technological curve report on the actual update? No problems for me yet--seems to do an update even on 4.0 projects, don't know what is happening there--but seems to work with no immediate glaring bugs (new ones, that is). Lance [alert admin]

Master of Orion III 1.2.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
and I could not get this updater 1.2.5 to work. I installed the game in another location and the installer worked fine (asking me which install to use). Lance [alert admin]

Sonnet Tempo ATA133, HD, Trio 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Yeah, I'd trust you to make a processor upgrade!
My Mac will not boot is System 9. Also I should mention that I am using this new thing called OSX. It's been out for about 3 years now but you may have not yet heard of it. I mean who would expect a company that makes processor upgrades and other Mac products to keep up with unimportant stuff like the Mac OS. I have watched and used your little OS9 firmware updates for a while now and each time I booted into 9 (on my old computer that COULD do that) I thought about how silly and backwards and inept Sonnet must be to not able to get an OSX version running. I thought "One day this is really gonna screw me" Today's the day. Welcome ot the 1990's! [alert admin]
