Readiris Pro 11.5.6 (Mac OS X)

Yellowish imported before recognition

Readiris Pro 11 has a very weird behaviour when used with an Epson Perfection 700 flatbed scanner. When importing a page fromp the Epson, the resulting dispàlay is a yellow coloured document within Rediris. Impossible to save the recognized document as a PDF file because of this yellowish looking aspect. This is occuring when used with INTEL code. When used with Rosetta, no problem at all with the recognition, but a slower behaviour. Rediris developers are aware of this problem with Epson scanners, that they hace been able to reproduce 2 or 3 months ago. Still waiting for an update ! [alert admin]

Intego NetBarrier X4 10.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Keep away from that !

Some months ago, and after having installed the previous version of NetBarrier, I used to get some odd connections, especially with iTunes, among others, which could simply be blocked when connecting to its server. I decided to set up NetBarrier so that it was not working. Always the same problems. then I tried to trash it and activate the Mac OS X firewall. Everything was working like a charm. Actually, The Mac OS X firewall is the same as the one included in Mac OS X Server. The interface is more simple in Mac OS X but the firewall is totally functional ! No need to install this piece of... software, since Apple has added a very good one in their System. To be aware of the security of your Mac, try NetBarrier first and then UNINSTALL NetBarrier and activate Mac OS X internal firewall and launch this url : http://check.sdv.fr:3658/cgi/scan [alert admin]

Can it receive faxes w/o user being logged in and app running?

my answer, yes it does with a startup item :-) Works really fine to me and I do appreciate the features of the PRO version... You can use 2 lines with a dedicated modem connected to each one... ;-)
