I used TeXtures extensively in the past under OS 9, and as of this version there is more than enough in the new version to get me to upgrade. The speed is excellent, flash mode works like a dream and I only miss the "go to error" and "go to line" features to be completely happy with it. Those who have not tried this but who are in fact power users of TeX and need it to be fast, trouble-free, easy to install and user-oriented for large-scale production work should try this. Once it gets out of beta I expect it to be the TeX installation of choice for those who need all of the above features. (Not knocking the freeware implementations, but those who were power users of TeX in the past and who had gotten used to the feature set of TeXtures will know what I am talking about in terms of what it brings to the table.) Problems on Tiger Server after QT 7.6 update
This update has disabled networking, including mail, on my TIger server installation. Beware! (Have already tried the usual repair permissions fixes, etc.) [alert admin]

AlmostVPN 1.5.3 (Mac OS X)
Even though I do know how to do this by hand, and would have no trouble doing any of the operations done by AlmostVPN manually, I still use this every day and find it invaluable, especially when traveling. By patiently reading the documentation (which does exist, despite the previous comment), I have set it up so that anywhere I go, I can have essentially the same connectivity to file servers, mail sending and receiving functionality, and secure access even to unsecured POP servers, etc., by connecting via ssh to accounts on the opposite side of whatever firewalls I happen to encounter. The true value of this utility is in making multiple such connections fast, and the extra handy capability to work seamlessly with mail servers without having to change port numbers, etc., is a true bonus. Usage hint: Remember to shut down your almostVPN connections before sleeping your computer or moving to a new destination. If you forget to do this, sometimes it is necessary to cycle the almostVPN server off and on a couple of times to clear stray old connections when you start it back up in the new location. Caveat: I haven't used this with Leopard yet, but am looking forward to doing so. It has worked perfectly for me for nearly 2 years on Tiger, modulo the above usage hint. Any comments from Leopard users? [alert admin]

CORRECTION: "Go to line" now exists in the edit menu (or Apple-L), so all I need is the old "go to error" functionality to be really happy!

As I said in the comment on the other post, this continues to get better and now has many features (including ability to include other formats of graphics, well-integrated editor suited for large-scale production tasks, font control, etc.) that make it well-suited for use by anyone who does a lot of TeX-based production. I no longer use my Classic version, only the new one -- and this will be quite important when Snow Leopard…

I have the same experience. This greatly limits the usefulness of this software, since Macs have not included serial ports for a VERY long time now!
