Apple Keynote 4.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Not Apple's best implementation...

Instead of making this an easy update (wherein the installer simply searches/checks your system for Keynote 4.0.2 and then does the update), Apple has set this update to check a specific file location (../Applications/iWork '08). If the installer doesn't find the app in that exact location, no update. This is aggravating and completely unnecessary. Many, many users choose not to keep their application in an iWork '08 folder. It's bad enough that Adobe buries its apps in a mindless hierarchy of folders, does Apple really need to follow this example? The aggravation/confusion/wasted time is compounded by the fact Apple hasn't bothered to provide any documentation (with the installer or on its Support page) to explain this silly implementation. Why is Adobe so amateurish...

You have to wonder how a company that produces such major software products has such a dismal record in releasing simple straightforward updates. Invariably they do not work correctly and this one is no exception. It returns a 'cannot find' error even though the app is in the default location as installed by CS3. [alert admin]

Speed Download 5.0 (Mac OS X)

Disgraceful

Deliberately manipulating the stated sale conditions after a promotion is sleazy by any standard. Yazsoft has shot themselves in the foot by trying this tactic and needs to take prompt remedial action if they want to save their professional reputation. Credibility and integrity are the foundations of any reputable business... hard to build but easy to lose. Yazsoft needs to review its position, acknowledge its responsibility in creating this situation, and offer complimentary upgrades to its MacHeist customers. [alert admin]

ANY CHANCE OF UPDATE INFO FROM DEVELOPER?

I realise this is freeware and the developer provides MAO as a courtesy to the Mac community. However MAO is very highly regarded by many Mac users and an update on pending Leopard capability would be greatly appreciated. [alert admin]

Spaces.. Spaces.. Spaces.. 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Why.. Why.. Why..

One of the major attributes of Spaces is the ability to immediately change workspace by clicking on the application in the dock. [alert admin]

Pixelmator 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Not new, not Leopard compatible.

Version 1.01 is not a new release... it came out almost a month ago. Nor is it compatible with 10.5. [alert admin]

Apple iMac Software Update 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Exercise CAUTION

Based on Apple's own Discussion Forums, this update has not solved any problems for most users - BUT it has caused screen problems for many more. Suggest waiting for the dust to settle on this one before installing. [alert admin]

How about *silly post*

Apple put any number of features into Leopard 'for a reason' as you put it. Users may or may not find those features useful/helpful/necessary to their experience. Apple also left the option in the code to turn many of these features on and off. This app simply facilitates that process. Any user with 5 minutes experience on a Mac and basic connection monitoring (ie Little Snitch) can readily determine this app makes no attempt at…

Or for free...

If you have a degree of experience, knowledge or expertise, then fair comment. Clearly, however, you do not have any degree of experience, knowledge or expertise with Leopard. Recommending hacks that you can neither test nor endorse is ill considered at best.

ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro and ATI Radeon HD 2600 are not the same card. Note the word 'Pro'. Unless your profiler shows the Pro card, this update isn't for you.

Not Apple's best implementation...

Keeping your applications in your Applications Folder is hardly a 'nonstandard place'. Few users want their applications mired in a hierarchy of folders. Most want quick, direct access within the Applications folder. How do I want the updater to find it? The same way 99.9% of the other updaters (including the majority of Apple's apps) do it. By identifying the application, determining the version, and proceeding to update it. Setting the updater to look for…

Won't Patch

If that is correct (re updater solely works with Japanese version) then Adobe is even more inept than I had previously thought. If this update is language specific then common sense indicates Adobe should have stated same on releasing he update.

Always buy at the North American Store

Nothing except your location. Like any online store, Elgato checks your ISP location to ensure you are using the store settings designated for your country. It has to do with a little thing called taxation (in many European countries a national sales tax is included in the retail price). While you could use a US proxy I suppose to mask the ISP location check, you would then have to lie about your country of origin…

Follow-up to Yazsoft Press Release regarding MacHeist

The principal problem here is that you are fully prepared to acknowledge your mistakes (which are evident to all concerned), but you are not prepared to rectify those mistakes. A responsible company would accept it made an error, look to accommodate its customers, look to revive its sinking reputation, and offer a complimentary upgrade to the individuals directly affected. There was no ambiguity in your literature and there is no caveat for methods of purchase. To…

Response to Speed Download 5 feedback

"If it wasn't for the support of the Mac community, we wouldn't be here and to us, that's priceless." Too bad Yazsoft doesn't actually grasp that they are losing the majority of their customer support (past, present and future) due a very shortsighted marketing decision for SD 5, and unless there is a rethink, they likely won't be here much longer. Support from the Mac community is indeed priceless, and once lost is virtually impossible to…

Excellent?

I would suspect it is a beta because the question mark hangs over 10.5 not 10.4. Red Snapper broke under 10.5, thus the relaunched Web Snapper 2. The real question is how well it works with Leopard.

He clearly states the app crashes every time he tries to open it.... that strikes me as an obvious stability issue deserving of the one star.
