The negative comments are mostly true. But SL does function quite will most of the time. When it doesn't, it is maddeningly frustrating. But it is such a unique and fascinating experience that the good times are well worth the bad times. When it crashes or you lose your hair or you can't log on for over an hour --- you gripe and complain and swear that you are done with SL and plan to quit .... next year. SL is decidedly not for eveyone. But everyone I know inworld who has been there more than 3 months or so would never think of leaving, no matter how bad the problems are. If you are considering it, I urge you to give it a decent try despite what you hear. And make sure no critical documents are open unsaved while running SL! [alert admin]

Backup Simplicity 3.0.4 (Mac OS X)
I have been using Backup Simplicity for over 2 years. It works flawlessly day after day. I have been saved more than once when my primary hard drive crashed but I had an exact clone on my backup drive thanks to this software. I have complete confidence in it. [alert admin]

Studiometry 1.1.5 (Mac OS X)
. . . for my needs. I have tried just about every project/client application available and this one just seems to be the most useful. My billing is more accurate. Invoices look better (I created my own templates -- very easy to do). And to-do items never got lost. There are a few GUI issues I would like to see improved but but the developer is responsive and I have no doubt this will happen. [alert admin]

Email Archiver 0.88b (Mac OS X)
other than a couple of GUI isssues about which I've written to the developer. I can see myself using this for archiving within Mailsmith every few months and then using another app to archive messages outside of Mailsmith once a year or so. Can't beat the price. [alert admin]

SysBookMenu 1.0 (Mac OS X)
. . . because Safari is not always in front when I want to go to a bookmarked site. Unfortunately, History and Address Book are not working for me. But it's free! [alert admin]

i4Colour 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This is perfect for designers such as myself who are color-challenged. Easy to use and very helpful. [alert admin]

LiSA 2.4.3.su (Mac OS X)
I use LISA daily. I get a lot of mail all day long while working and LISA helps me know whether new mail needs to be viewed immediately or can wait. That it uses a pre-recorded voice means that the voice quality is excellent. On the other hand, it doesn't allow for customized alerts and you need to be creative about using its pre-set messages. Setup can be a pain because you need to enter senders manually. But all in all, I am pretty happy with LISA. I would like to see auto-integration with Address Book and an option to allow custom messages, even though they would use a computer voice. [alert admin]

Easy to install. Seems to work well so far. Very nice. How do I upgrade versions without starting over? [alert admin]

Wimpus 0.2c (Mac OS X)
Just select R&B for the music type and most of the results returned will be hip hop. This software is great, especially for those who prefer to explore new music rather than listening to what they already know. [alert admin]

Does the Mac just go black and shut down? And do you need to unplug for a few seconds before restarting? Could easily be your CPU temperature. Download Temperature Monitor. And get a small external fan you can use just during SL.
