FastMailBase 1.14 (Mac OS X)
I find it hard to understand all the one star ratings for this program. While FastMailBase may not have the flashiest graphics, it does a very good job at archiving your mail - and allowing you to quickly and reliably find mail items afterwards. I like the fact that you can have it archive messages on startup, as well as deleting the message from Mail after archiving. I also like the MIME message handling and ability to show graphical attachments. It is always easy to see which messages have attachments and to view them. Searching on various parameters is easy to do and very fast to complete. Downsides are that it keeps claiming a newer version exists (it doesn't), and the price - which is on the high side. It can take a little while to import messages, but let it churn away and it will complete (I imported around 1,000 messages from Mail without any issues). I recommend taking a look at the program and checking out its functionality. It really offers all that you could reasonably look for, and offers a good way to stop Mail choking on old messages and their attachments. [alert admin]

Menuet 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I used to use Synergy, but there is so much to like about Menuet that I couldn't help switching to it. For one thing, it looks really sleek - and the various skins for controls are very nice. I really like the ability to see other tracks for the current artist - a very nice touch. The "Grab Artwork" feature is great too. If there was anything that I'd like to see improve in Menuet, it would be stability. I've had a few times when the program has quit when I browse the playlist (I've sent in one of the crash reports). I'd also like to see the artist sorting omit the word "The", so that (for instance) The Beatles appeared under "B" rather than "T" - but I was very impressed by the quick reply from Specere when I mentioned this. High Priority 1.11 (Mac OS X)
Having been burned with a previous menu to-do program which was buggy and now no longer supported, what a pleasure it is to find something as solid and well supported as High Priority. The integration with iCal is great. Tasks such as adding and removing items are as simple as you'd hope. I asked Aram about the date format, which initially was US only, and he had it fixed in the very next version - it is nice to see this level of involvement by a developer. [alert admin]

Yojimbo 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I used to use Sticky Brain, but it grew cumbersome and insisted on installing OpenBase. Yojimbo reminds me of the halcyon days when Sticky Brain was still a small, simple product. I actually hope that Bare Bones resist the temptation to bolt everything but the kitchen sink on to the product. I especially like: the ability to print to Yojimbo, the PF8 shortcut that pre-populates the details of the item to be added and the overall look and feel of the application (much more modern looking than BBEdit). I also don't believe that the product is overpriced. It seems a pretty fair price for what is offered. [alert admin]

DockStar 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This is a very nice add-on to Apple Mail. I like the ability to set different sizes and shapes of counts for different mailboxes. It all works very well. [alert admin]

pagesender 3.5.3 (Mac OS X)
Having downloaded and tried a few things, I was only too happy to register the program. I also wanted to set up Page Sender for eFax and wasn't entirely sure how to do it. An e-mail to the support team was answered inside of 5 minutes with a complete and helpful answer. I don't think I've ever seen support as fast as that before! [alert admin]

Default Folder X 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I must admit to trying Default Folder X out initially on a bit of a whim - it had got a good write-up in one of the Mac magazines and I thought I'd try it out. Now I hate using a machine where it isn't installed. This is a great utility that makes it possible to almost always be looking at exactly the right folder when you open a file dialog - in every single program. Priceless! [alert admin]

Hog Bay Notebook 3.5 (Mac OS X)
I've tried quite a few different programs to capture pieces of information. Some of them have large footprints and scatter stuff over your disk. Others work well, but are rather slow and overkill for the task. Hog Bay Notebook strikes pretty much the perfect balance. Quick and light, but with plenty of functionality. The new v3.5 is really the icing on the cake. Well worth the shareware fee. [alert admin]

Kitty Spangles Solitaire 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This is a beautifully implemented little game. I certainly have no hangups about software doing some version checking or payment verification. The graphics are tremendously well done, and it runs very well indeed on my Mac (admittedly a G5). The game is mainly aimed at children or those still young at heart! It would be nice to see some other card game variations for the price, but I like it enough to have already registered it. [alert admin]
