iGTD 1.3.4 (Mac OS X)

Great piece of work

But some critical features are still missing. A user manual would be helpful, but admittedly there is some online support. I really need alarms as a tickler feature. This alone sent me to invest in Process. It is very Mac-like, allows for document attachments, and just has a lot more spit and polish all the way around. Still, iGTD's development is something I will keep my eyes on. [alert admin]

Japanese-English Dictionary 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Maybe not

This shows a lot of thought and good effort. It's a great start. If this were $10 or so, I might bite. But for my money I'll stick with JEDict. Much more complete, including handwritten kanji recognition and lookup. Only 5 cents more will buy you a lot. I do wish JEDict would display results in a little more refined way, but it does the job well. [alert admin]

SpotInside 0.3 (Mac OS X)

Some bugs...

...still need to be squashed in this version. For example, File Pathname from the columns when customizing will crash the application when selecting results in subsequent searches. I would like to have more control over adding and deleting paths...and giving those paths customized names. For freeware, though, this is really a stellar application and has found a place in my dock. [alert admin]

SpotInside 0.2.8 (Mac OS X)

Great piece of work

I would like to be able to sort the results alphabetically according to filename, not score. But clicking on the filename column header does nothing. Any possibilty this could be a feature request? [alert admin]

SpotInside 0.2.4 (Mac OS X)

Almost perfect

This is just the tool I was looking for. But please allow me to choose my own default location that SpotInside will remember the next time I launch. Please! [alert admin]

Tensai 0.90 (Mac OS X)

How about...

...making a widget from this. That would be the ultimate in lookup convenience. [alert admin]

iFlash 2.5 (Mac OS X)

A tremendous flashcard application!

iFlash keeps getting better with every release. It is an outperformer in its niche market, but...after some wonderful and significant improvements, the developer now needs to turn his attention away from tweaking the interface toward improving the product's core functionality as a quiz application. After all, this is why you buy a flashcard application in the first place. Much could be done to expand the STUDY options. How about a multiple-choice quizzing feature, fill-in-the-blank, multiple answer, fuzzy logic testing, or use of more artificial intelligence to aid learner in his weak areas. A progress or statistical report would be helpful. Improve the study features and you get a fifth star from this registered user. [alert admin]
