Ticker 3.1 (Mac OS X)
Once again working ... sort of ...
Possibly due to a fix in the underlying web service, Ticker 3.1 is working again under Leopard on my MacBook Pro. But the percentage gains/losses are off by a factor of 100. That's much better than not working at all. I hope the developer returns to tidy up this now minor issue and make Ticker the best of best once again. [alert admin]

Ticker 3.1 (Mac OS X)
This worked great for years. But it recently stopped fetching updates. Updates appear to happen on schedule and on request. But no data gets updated. Will likely get 4 stars from me again when it's fixed. [alert admin]

SmartSVN 1.1.8 (Mac OS X)
It would be useful to read the changelog to see what has changed since the previous release, but I can't find one. Please include one in future releases, or clearly point users and potential users in the right direction. -B... [alert admin]

RBrowser 4.3.1 (Mac OS X)
Works great here. Thanks for the folder sync fix! One request: alter the file exclusion to handle rsync-like exclusion paths ala "/foo/bar". Can't figure out how to accomplish branch exclusion with current sync tool. Last, not to knock the others, but for those of us who need the features, nothing else does everything RBrowser does. Truly examine RBrowser before posting come-ons for other tools. [alert admin]

RBrowser 4.2.2 (Mac OS X)
Works great here (I use it primarily for SFTP, its BBEdit integration, and rsync interface). Another smooth update. No complaints. -B... [alert admin]

SvnX 0.9.6.1 (Mac OS X)
I've moved all my CVS repositories over to subversion. But it wasn't until svnX existed that I was confident I could do that without plenty of headaches. This version runs beautifully on my TiBook 800MHz running Panther 10.3.9. I have occasional dropped connections, causing me to quit svnX. And it's quit on its own a couple times. But the cleverness and simplicity of the interface make it a joy to use. The repository browser alone is a work of art.
Things I hope for in future versions:
- lots of key commands
- better log viewing (not just slit panes -- perhaps an inspector palette)
- complete properties support
- faster display in hierarchical view
- faster repository display in column view
- contextual menus for column/flat views (loaded with per-file operations)
- a branch merging manager (capable of handing off to BBEdit, as well as FileMerge)
- surprises! (Thanks, Santa Dominique!)

Digidesign Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 (Mac OS X)
... on my Dual 867/MixPlus system running OS X 10.3.5 (Even though Digi says it only supports 10.3.4). I've been experimenting with it for two weeks without any issues. Exchanges session files with version 5 without issue (except for +12db headroom files). The $35 upgrade from version 5 is extremely well worth it! Other developers should learn from Digidesign's upgrade pricing and quality example! (PT user since 4.0). [alert admin]

RBrowser 3.3.5 (Mac OS X)
Another fine update. Windows FTP server issue appears to be the server's fault. It's feigning security by hiding the contents of the root folder "550 /: folder not found". [alert admin]

RBrowser 3.3.4 (Mac OS X)
No major problems here. Just keeps getting better. I do have a continuing minor issue with Windows FTP servers:"no folder list data has been returned". After hitting "OK" everything works fine. [alert admin]

That means that version 5.1.2 beta 3 passed the beta testing and is worthy of release as the stable 5.1.2. The effective change is the declation that it's ready for anyone -- even for users who like to avoid being guinea pigs. -B...

What one purchases when one purchases software is a license to use that software, nothing more. To the extent that the developer offers bug fixes and additional features, the user benefits, while the developer builds a solid reputation for maintenance and improvements. To my knowledge no developer adds value more consistently than Ed Hamrick.
In this case there were two options. The cheaper of the two was chosen, apparently in the odd hope that if the…

That form is actually three forms. Only one of them is for those who remember the card they used for the original purpose. I encountered the same issue. The original email address I used at registration sufficed to get me my new serial number. Take a few deep breaths. Then try it again. -B...

You're better off thinking about what you really need than just biting on someone's blanket "better" opinion. Here's a fairly good comparison. There are surely many more.

I just read the license. As far as I can tell, you can use MySQL for commercial purposes, as long as you're not redistributing it as part of a closed-source application. So unless you develop and sell software that incorporates MySQL, this is not an issue.
