Eudora Mailbox Cleaner 4.9 (Mac OS X)

worked well for me!

Changing email clients is rare and a usually a one-off exercise. It also a real pain. Converted 13 years of Eudora mail across 10 mailboxes with attachments and read/reply marks. The attachments didn't come through first time so deleted the imported Apple Mail folder & started again - 2nd time worked perfectly/ [alert admin]

EyeTV 2.5.1 (Mac OS X)

v2.5.1 shows 'no signal' on EyeTVDiversity v2.4.1 works fine in Leopard

Excellent program and features. However: v2.4.1 works fine when used with EyeTV Diversity under Leopard 10.5.1 intel MacBook v2.5.1 shows "No signal" Downgrading from 2.5.1 to 2.4.1 and signal / tv picture returns as normal v2.5.1 sems to have a serious bug in it (for me anyway) [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X PPC 10.4.7 (Mac OS X)

works fine - more responsive. some initial firewire issues.

Installed from 10.4.6 as the combo updater. iMac G4 1.25GHz 1Gb RAM Works fine - Finder & data transfer apps much more responsive. Double restarted by itself after insall and had to shutdown (not restart) for firewire devices to be recognised after applying the update. Seems much snappier than 10.4.6. Nice to see Finder progress bar updated more frequently during file transfers e.g. 4Mb chunks rather than the 64Mb chunks under 10.4.6 [alert admin]

Password Retriever 5.0.7 (Mac OS X)

Good App - support Excellent

Have used this app for about a month after evaulating the many similar ones available. Found the app competent & did what I wanted. However, had a query on functionality & emailed author - response within an hour & he solved my problem soon after - support excellent! [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.1 (Mac OS X)

10.4.1 - Tiger Excellent - Safari broken

Tiger in 10.4.0 and 10.4.1 is excellent. However, Safari worked fine in 10.4.0 original release and was really quick too. Now in 10.4.1 some login pages don't work (multiple sites) and some online shopping sites don't work anymore - either Safari gives an error messgae "webpage" or in 3 online shopping site it will not allow me to select items to order. Apple Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Mac OS X)

Java broken

Installed 10.3.9 on 2 machines. One OK, and one hot by the Java Issue. "Java -version" in Terminal reavealed it as did browsing. Apple suggested reinstaling Java142 update 2, but the installer refused to install on the hard drive.Reinstalled Security update 2005-2 and all appears OK. Need to test it - go to www.java.com and try out some of the stuff! [alert admin]

Firefox 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

A lot better than the competition

This is the best web browser that I have used recently. Internet Explorer 5.2.3 is getting old and very slow compared with other browsers. The new Safari (v1.3) with OS 10.3.9 has improved, but still gets stuck loading some pages FireFox is quick to load and render pages. I have only found one page that it didn't render properly. Apple Mac OS X 10.3.8 (Mac OS X)

speakers "click" on startup

I have installed 10.3.8 on a couple of machines; mainly through the combo updater. All machines now emit is click/crackle from the speakers before the startup chimeon a cold boot - never used to do this in Jaguar, 10.3.0 or 10.3.7 or OS 9 (for those that can boot onto 9). Even a clean install doesn't fix it. [alert admin]
