ArcSoft Panorama Maker Pro 4.5.0.107 (Mac OS X)

Crashes for me

Crashes repeatedly / every time at the second screen so can't really evaluate this program. Using intel Mac Pro with the very latest software. I've tried most of these types of program and wouldn't mind seeing how this one fares... unfortunately - for now - it fares nowhere.. [alert admin]

1Password 2.9.4 (Mac OS X)

Security

I've tried a few different similar program but 1Password is the most seamless and easy to use. One of the most important steps you can take to making your surfing more secure is to use strong passwords and not save them in the browser. I basically never used strong passwords because it was just too hard. Now with this program - no more using a few very simple passwords for everything - you can use strong passwords and be much more secure. The 'wallet' feature is also very handy - no more digging my credit cards out to make a purchase - it's all there. Excellent application - essential this day and age of ever increasing security threats on the web. [alert admin]

A Better Finder Rename 8.0 (Mac OS X)

Does it all.

I believe I've probably tried every other renaming utility out there and, at various times, one or other has had some unique feature that I found useful enough to keep me coming back to that program and not using ABFR. Not any more.! As of version 8 ABFR now appears to have the superset of functions of all other renamers and I need no other program. It's also a bonus that the interface is well thought out and quite easy to master. Some of the other programs are, no doubt, powerful but you need to be a total propellor head to have a fighting chance of getting them to do anything useful. If you are a photographer shooting any sort of volume at all ABFR will pay for itself in a single shoot. Highly recommended. [alert admin]

solidThinking 7.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Review

This product continues to improve with time and the developers are certainly receptive to feedback. I have not yet failed to get a prompt personal response to any queries I have had - including my recent 'issue' :-). Recent inclusion of being able to render models in Maxwell Render has also been a boon to those seeking ultimate photo realism. Some aspects of the interface remain not entirely 'mac like' however , given the learning curve of the program in general, this is not really a major issue. With the recent lower cost additions to the solidthinking line-up we may hopefully see a growing community of users! [alert admin]

solidThinking 7.5.1 (Mac OS X)

update???? Where is it

How in god's name do I actually download this? I'm registered user, can't download it here, can't find the download on the solidthinking site either.. Evoque - how about making it a bit easier to actually get a hold of this update.. and especially for your registered users! Only thing I can rate is 'ease of use' - which is less than poor seeing as I can't get the update. Cheers. [alert admin]

A Better Finder Rename 7.9.4.5 (Mac OS X)

Crucial Missing Feature

I've been using ABFR for years now however it still does not have what I consider an essential feature in this day and age of motor drive SLR digital cameras - and that is - auto increment the file name if you are setting the file name from the exif HHMMSS data. Cameras can now shoot in excess of 10 frames per second so this is absolutely essential. EXIF renamer (for example) does this task very well and I'm still forced to use it for renaming all my photographs as there's always the possibility of files having the same exif data - to the second - ABFR does not cope with this. If it did... I could finally throw my other renamers away... Hopefully Frank can implement this one day...... [hint] JS [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 4128.0 (Mac OS X)

Excellent applications

I'm using parallels on a Mac Pro and on the 17" Mac Book Pro and I'm not seeing any of the working hard, fan spinning , running hot stuff the previous comment mentioned (2gb ram in the MPB BTW). On both machines it runs cool, quiet and fast. Occasionally the fans will spin up if I am using 3 or four apps as the same time in both windows and OSX all at the same time - but thats entirely normal and happens if I'm only in OSX and running half a dozen apps at the same time that are using the process.. All in all a brilliant app - light years ahead of the previous solutions for running windows. [alert admin]

Word Galaxies 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Good!

Similar to 'scramble' for those of you that know it. Nice implementation but a few additional options would round out the game a bit more - such as adjustable (by dragging) of screen size - not just very small or full screen. Ability to add words to dictionary would be good also. With some improvemtn could be very good. [alert admin]

EyeTV 2.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Sound is broken

I have used eyeTV for a long time now and have 4 of them on various mac's. One analogue and two 410 digitals and the new hybrid. Generally I have been very happy with the product but the current software breaks sound on all my macs. In program prefs I basically can not select system sound as it will immediately revert back to digital out and changing (or trying to) change the output settings in the eyeTV prefs actually changes the settings in the System Preference Pane for sound! I can sometimes get sound out of the mac internal speaker but not via digital out to external speaker system. Basically this update breaks sound - beware before upgrading. Previous version probably rate higher but this one is broken for now. Hopefully there will be an upate soon. [alert admin]

update???? Where is it

Well I have the update now and all is excellent with the product as usual. Of course my 'complaint' stems from what are undoubtedly anti piracy measures (not being able to directly download from the website or via versiontracker or similar). Many companies take measure to this end - such as 'activation' (adobe) - which are a real pain and can seriously inconvenience legitimate users of the product. Maybe one day there…

Display results limited to 3

Nope, no problems here. Running it on several different macs and none experience the problem you mention. I get exactly as many results as specified in the prefs. All macs on 10.4.10 some PPC and some intel. Cheers.

I'm ROFL. Just what are you talking about. I have nothing to be defense about, I certainly don't sell parallels and I'm telling it as I see it. I use parallels in my work every day. Maybe you work for VMware or something - sounds more plausible sunshine! LOL
