Apple iPhoto 7.1.4 (Mac OS X)
I can't believe I have to write this, but all the current iLife applications first require the purchase of wait for it.... iLife '08. No free lunch here. Buy it, then you can update the apps. iPhoto works great for me, many new options came with iPhoto 7 that I enjoy. I don't enjoy the dumbing down of iMovie and consequently have kept an older version on my Mac, in addition to the most recent. [alert admin]

CopyPaste + yType 2.7.5 (Mac OS X)
There is a CopyPaste Pro 1.0 for 10.5, now in beta 7
I downloaded it the first day I saw it on versiontracker a month or more ago. The next day it was gone. A whole new type of interaction. I like it much better. Can't find it on the developer's website now either, but the beta copy I have just let me update to beta 7. Go figure. I've used this program since OS 9 and consider it an essential. I'll buy it when it offers me a discount price for purchasing previous versions. [alert admin]

Apple QuickTime 7.4.1 (Mac OS X)
This update made me restart to complete installing. When it did, my dock keeps crashing and little snitch appears to have lost all it's rules. [alert admin]

Beta worked great. Read mostly great things here. Updated. Seemed to go fine. Went to use it, unable to type in an address--immediately jumps to blank screen. Major Routes still exist, but not little streets. Can't get there from here unless I had already saved it to my favorites. Then it thought we were about .75 miles from where we actually were. I'm going to have to send it back to Garmin. Totally screwed. [alert admin]

I've had WeatherManX and WeatherMenu for years and have been very happy except for occasional glitches when the national weather service changes how it maintains its website. I emailed the developer a couple of days ago and indicated forecasts were not loading and others were complaining about lack of response from him. He emailed me back within two days directing me to a new update. He suggested I delete cities I was having trouble with and add them again. That did the trick. [alert admin]

iNet Stream Archiver 1.7.0rc2 (Mac OS X)
Alright, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this program needs a manual. I was at a loss for quite a while, opening various tabs, etc. trying to get it to work. nope. Then, on one reopen, it asked if I wanted to download stations for the tuner. After that it worked for those stations, but I cannot get it to make a bookmark for itunes radio stations. It really records the songs, looks up their ids, and catalogs them. Wouldn't it be great if this worked with the new AOL radio? Maybe I could access XM stations thru AOL and record them.... Efforts to communicate with the developer have so far not been successful after two days. The website "contact" page also comes up as an error. [alert admin]

Google Desktop 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)
Okay, so I installed. At the beginning, it politely asked me if I would permit non-personal information to be transmitted back to improve the program. I said No. Ever since, Little snitch regularly (maybe every 30 minutes) pops up to ask if I will allow communication..... I continued to say no. Finally, after I deleted the program(s), it still continued to ask... I don't like this. I told little snitch to deny forever. Be warned. It would be nice if they offered an uninstall option. Has anyone tried this with an Aria Extreme PCI card yet?
Not me, but somebody earlier said after installing all third party cards weren't recognized.

I reinstalled and everything has since worked fine. This time it did not damage my encrypted disk in any way. 9 is so much more integrated into the overall Mac operation that you would really have to consciously try to get by the security. I recommend it if you need security. Hippa compliant.

An easier work around that I used was forward 2 of your email accounts to the third. Gets them all.

Mr. Vonkas, I suspect you were using the more complex compression engine. I can do an almost 7 gig DVD in under an hour in the least complex mode. I find that quality acceptable. PS. You sound like an adolescent ranting. You may not be, but I hope that's what it is.

If the original is larger than 4.3 gigs, you must compress the new files down to less than that. I use DVDRemaster and set the size for 4.1 gigs. I described the process in feedback or comments on either DVD Backup or DVDRemaster's versiontracker page. Let me know if you continue to have problems.

Well, mine does. I'm running 3.0.1 and 3.0 worked fine also. I am aware, however, in the e-mail settings, what it shows is a truncated version of my e-mail address. Don't know why, but it works so I'm not screwin' with it.
