Spotless LE 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Damaged dmg for version 2.0.2 - resolved

We were able to replicate the problem after all and have now replaced the dmg file. Additional testing has not reproduced the error. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused. John Goodchild, President, Fixamac Software, Inc. [alert admin]

TypeIt4Me X 3.0b24 (Mac OS X)

A great time saver!

I use TypeIt4Me X as a programming aid. It saves countless hours of typing in repetitive lines of code. In fact, TypeIt4Me can enter entire code sections by simply typing a few characters. Another great feature is the ability to load different clipping sets for different uses. Example: a clipping set designed for programming would not be particularly useful when used with an email program. Simply open the application (now a convenient preference pane) and choose a new set. The newly chosen set is immediately available. Simple. The attention to detail, ease of use and time saving potential, make this a must-have application. I thoroughly recommend it! Printer Setup Repair 5.0.3 TE (Mac OS X)

This was not intentional. Please read.

We recently discovered a bug in Printer Setup Repair 5.0.3 that causes a problem in the code section that handles and rejects pirated registration codes. Our original objective was to delete the Printer Setup Repair preferences if a pirated code was entered but a typographical error in the code allowed the entire user preferences folder to be erased instead. This would only occur if a pirated code was used. There was no such error found in the area that handles legitimate registration codes. We have fixed the problem and posted an update. This was not a malicious act on our part, rather an effort to protect our product from software pirates, and we regret any damage that may have been caused by the use of pirated registration codes. Anyone who downloaded Printer Setup Repair 5.0.3 between 11-05-05 and 12-06-05 should download the current release (version 5.0.3) from our web site [alert admin]

Spotless 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

To designcrusaders:

We have isolated the problem with the "Red X" menu bar item not being reverted after enabling Spotlight. This will be fixed in the next version which will be released shortly. However, the "Red X" is purely a cosmetic issue and will not affect the performance of Spotlight. I apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you, and others. Please email our technical support department in the future as we do not always check the VT review area. We will help unregistered and registered users of our products. Best regards, John Goodchild Fixamac Software, Inc. [alert admin]

Spotless 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

To mfix and _kung_foo_

mfix: We will investigate this immediately. This is the first case of Spotless causing damage to the hostconfig file that we have been made aware of. Rest assured, we will examine the code very carefully to find out where this sort of issue can arise. _kung_foo_: We will add support for UFS volumes to the next release. Best regards, John Goodchild Fixamac Software, Inc. [alert admin]

Spotless 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Spotless disables content indexing

Spotless disables the content indexing of volumes. This prevents indexes from being created. This does not prevent Spotlight from finding files by name. When content indexing is turned off, Spotlight will still find files on that volume exactly the same way the "find" function in Mac OS X 10.0.x through 10.3.x used to. If you really do not want to be able to find your files - even by name, then the volume should be added to the Spotlight privacy list. In order to add a volume to the privacy list, content indexing MUST be enabled for that volume. Spotless allows users to quickly disable content indexing on volumes that need to maintain a high data transfer rate for tasks - such as video rendering, Photoshop scratch disks, etc. Content indexing on volumes like these causes frame skipping, slow rendering, spinning beach balls (esp. in Photoshop), etc. The change stays with the volume - even if it is moved to another computer. Spotless 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

A note about cloning...

When you clone one volume to another, the index for that volume is also cloned. If you disable indexing for a destination volume and then create a clone of a volume on which indexing is enabled, the clone will also have indexing enabled. If the destination volume is erased during the cloning process, then it is immediately available for Spotlight to begin indexing again. This is not a bug with Spotless; rather a problem with the way the various cloning applications handle Spotlight indexes. [alert admin]

Spotless 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Thank you for your observation

wgscott - This is certainly the way to do the same using the Terminal. Our product is designed for those who do not want to open the Terminal to perform these functions. Also, Spotless performs additional tests to determine whether or not the Metadata Server and the index policy of the volume are in sync. Again, this can be done with the Terminal but it takes a lot more investigation to resolve - if you know what you are looking for. All the while, indexing may be running when you want it to stop. Power users can continue to use the Terminal to manage their computers. We do not want to stop them. We believe that $7.95 is a reasonable price to pay for those who want to do this the easy way. Thank you for your feedback. Regards, John Goodchild Fixamac Software [alert admin]

Damaged dmg for version 2.0.2

Very strange. We are unable to replicate this issue with Firefox and Safari under Mac OS X 10.5.5. Just to be on the safe side, the dmg file will be replaced as soon as possible. We apologize to anyone who experiences this issue in the mean time. John Goodchild, President, Fixamac Software, Inc.

We have just tested all download links on our web site. They all seem to be working fine without resulting in a damaged dmg file. Have you tried using a different browser? John Goodchild, President, Fixamac Software, Inc.

Doesn't find all mounted volumes

This bug has been fixed in version 1.2.3. The problem was not related to mount points but a bug in the way Spotless was determining the read/write status of volumes. John Goodchild Fixamac Software, Inc.

Once again...

Printer Setup Repair does not do what you are claiming. You must have had a problem with your OS before running it. PSR does not fix everything that is wrong with Mac OS X on a troubled system. Something else must have been aggravating the issue. By the way, thanks for rating our technical support 1 star when you never actually contacted us for assistance in the first place. Much appreciated. John Goodchild Fixamac Software, Inc. <http://www.fixamacsoftware.com>

There was obviously a problem before you ran PSR

Why would you run PSR if you didn't have a problem? The reset function does NOT remove any files that prevent future printing. If you read the online manual, you will see a list of the files that ARE removed. Resetting the printing system does not remove any files related to any Inkjet Printer Utility. I don't believe that it is entirely fair to tell others not to buy a product that was unable to repair…

To find while "Spotless"

It was just a recommendation - not an order. You can, of course, do whatever you feel happy doing.

Why bother?

In order to find files without Spotlight, we recommend EasyFind. You can find it here: <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11706> Regards, John Goodchild Fixamac Software
