AddMovie 1.4.3 (Mac OS X)
Utilities Pricing Policy and Terminology
As some of the feedback below indicates certain users are annoyed that I use the term "donation" when I enforce a payment for permanent activation of AddMovie, and all the other programs in my Utility Bundle that are simultaneously activated by such a "donation." So they give it a bad rating without even trying the product. I call it a donation because I allow payments in four amounts. At the present time these amounts are: $10, $15, $20 and $25. I am fully aware of the conventional meaning of the term, or at least what it seems to imply: free access to the software with no requirement to pay anything ever. Yet in the description above I do clearly note that AddMovie is part of a bundle, and that a payment is required to permanently activate it and all other utilities. It is very disappointing to receive 1-star ratings because of this pricing policy and terminology, and not because the product was actually used and found to be unworthy of a higher rating. I put a good deal of of time and effort into developing AddMovie, as well as all the other utilities in the software bundle it belongs to. It is not fair to disparage the programs with bad ratings because of a pricing policy or terminology related to it, although comments are always welcome. I would consider changing the policy to one where, say, each utility has a separate price and I charge another single price for the whole bundle, rescinding the usage of the term donation. However, many people seem to like the way I am offering the software, and many people do pay in one of the various amounts available. So I don't think a change is necessary. The idea is: pay an amount commensurate with the number of utility products you use. If you only use AddMovie, pay $10. If you use AddMovie, TransformMovie and Seatubes, maybe you'll consider $15. If you use 50% of the utility programs maybe $25 is reasonable. I really don't think this idea is unfair. Especially in light of the fact that all upgrades are always free, and whenever I create a new member of the utility bundle you get it at no extra charge. New products are in fact added frequently, and updates are applied all the time. I hope I clarified the issue a bit. And I hope you consider retracting your 1-star rating and just leaving a comment that you think I am being unfair and misleading (which of course I am not trying to be.) [alert admin]

TransformMovie 1.0.9 (Mac OS X)
TransformMovie is Not Freeware
Somehow version 1.0.9 was listed incorrectly as freeware, and it is not. I just noticed the error and corrected it in the VersionTracker database, and hopefully the change will be applied soon. However, TransformMovie is part of the Limit Point Software "Utilities Bundle." A single donation, i.e. payment in a variable amount, provides you with a password that activates all utility software, including TransformMovie. Upgrades to all software is always free, and new products in the bundle are always included. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused anyone! [alert admin]

MoveCM 1.0 (Mac OS X)
A reply to the replier to the developer
Hi, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thanks. First, I just posted an update to MoveCM which adds some new features, such as the ability to archive files or folders to one of the locations pre-selected in the preference pane. I went on the defensive because I write a lot of software, and I rotate through the projects updating them over time. Your review and comments came in on version 1.0, which for all my products will always suffer from a lack of features. So comparing my program at its debut to a program which has been in development for a much longer period of time seemed odd to me. It's not something I would participate in. It makes me wonder why you have to take it public anyway. I guess there is something in writing to me in private communication that wouldn't suffice. Similarly, why was your last reply posted as a completly new feedback item, rather than as part of the pre-exisiting thread to your original post? As with all my products I have a list of features planned for MoveCM. They never all go into version 1. I'll get to them eventually. I just sit here writing the software I want to use, and that I think will be useful to others. So when a person comes by and denigrates my work I tend to go on the defensive. The unfortunate side of the internet is that it seems to provide the same insulation that causes "road rage." Finally, MoveCM doesn't stand alone, but rather as part of a large assemblage of programs I work on simultaneously. And, I offer them all for one single price, which is variable (so I call it a donation.) Each individual existing program is in development, and new ones are on the way.Upgrades are always F R E E, as are new additons to the bundle. Joe [alert admin]

TransformMovie 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)
The previous clarification is wrong, assuming the person making the clarification knows what a reference movie is. TransformMovie does not create a reference movie. It makes a complete copy of the original movie, i.e. it is self-contained. [alert admin]

Seatubes 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)
Seatubes is part of the Limit Point Software Utilities Bundle
Seatubes is one program in the Utilities Bundle. When you donate you receive a password which unlocks all the software indefinitely (not just Seatubes,) including free upgrades to all. [alert admin]

Blue Crab 4.1.5 (Mac OS X)
This is probably the same problem that version 4.1.4 addresses. Please try again if you get a chance. (Also, the beach ball does stop spinning after about 60 seconds and the program becomes responsive again so you don't have to force quit.) Enjoy! [alert admin]

SwitchDock 1.2 (Mac OS X)
This note pertains to the previous feedback by two users. It would be very much appreciated if any users that encounter a crash submit a crash log produced by the system. Since a crash is not often reproducible on other systems it is sometimes hard to fix. Obviously we would not release a product we know is crashing on our own systems. Crash logs often can provided relevant information about the cause of a crash, and can be useful for finding a solution to the problem. Crash logs are located in : Home > Library > Logs > CrashReporter and for this program would be named "SwitchTop.crash.log" Thanks! [alert admin]

Mailings 1.3 (Mac OS X)
Crash resolved in current version 1.3
The bug which caused some users to suffer from a crash when downloading pages from a server has been resolved in the latest version of Mailings, namely 1.3. I'd like to thank the user (Dennis19) who initially brought the bug to my attention and provided the invaluable service of testing builds that addressed the problem. Thanks! [alert admin]

Mailings 1.2.7 (Mac OS X)
It can be very helpful when experiencing a crash to send a copy of the crash log generated by the system. Copies of crash logs are in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter (i.e. Home > Library > Logs > CrashReporter) and are named after the program. Quite often they point to the place the bug is located. Another way to help is to describe the problem more specifically. In this case it would be nice to know the URL of the web page which is causing the problem so that I can try to reproduce it. Thanks! I'd like to clarify that the "import" feature is doing exactly what it is supposed to: it imports all video URLs found on the given URL, i.e. multiple URLs are expected. This is appropriate because one of the goals of Seatubes is to facilitate batch downloading and monitoring. As an internet application "flakiness" can be due to your internet connection, or other factors such as the format of the video (which may be SWF.) I can't…

In the description directky above this feedback it says: "AddMovie is part of the Limit Point Software Utilities Bundle : http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities.html. Purchase a Utilities password to activate all the utilities, including AddMovie. Updates are always free, new products always included!" I don't understand how you can place a 1-star rating on my product because of that.

From Developer: Just for the record, the product is not free. It is part of a Utility bundle: http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities.html A single, variable amount donation, activates all the utilities, including FilePathCM.

Simple and very user-friendly basic video editor
Thanks for the review. It was refreshing to see after the previous one complaining about my usage of the "donation" terminology for payments unlocking my Utilities bundle. If you like please email me concerning the "con" you mention here. I am not quite sure what alternatives you would like to see. I am always open to user suggestions for implementation in updates. I do it all the time. My email address is joe@limit-point.com Thanks again!

I am not trying to be intentionally misleading. I understand the issue people have been raising with the donation terminology I use. I've explained elsewhere why that terminology was chosen (mostly a historical reason) but primarily now because the amount is variable. Whoever heard of a variable price? Donation sounds better to me. Note that one donation unlocks ALL utilities, forever, no upgrade fees. And, new products are always included. At this time I…

Good concept but finicky with poor support
Hello, I am very sorry for your problems with the program, but mail servers are trying to combat spamming, and I believe that this is frequenty the problem with getting a mailing to work sometimes. In this case I made numerous attempts via email to help you. I suppose you became disgruntled when my responses were not spontaneous enough :-) But more often than not users are quite satisifed with my reponse time. Finally I'd like to point…
