MacMAME 0.103u2 (Mac OS X)

Scrapped?

I love this program, but there hasn't been any updates for a long time, and I'm wondering if the author died or something. I sure hope not. Games with analog controls don't play well (or at all) with my Xbox 360 pad. Seems more jerky on my double 2.66 Ghz dual core Mac Pro than it does on my dual 1 Ghz G4 for some reason. Still great, though. [alert admin]

Firefox 1.5.0.1 (Mac OS X)

More Crashes

This version seems to crash A LOT more often than any other version of Firefox I've used. If I start to click things too fast, the browser goes away and must be restarted. This rarely happened with any of the older versions. Maybe the Firefox developers just hate people who still use 10.3.9? What's weird is that the more I use it, the less it crashes. Still my preferred browser. [alert admin]

JES Deinterlacer 2.7.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

This program rocks!

I woild always see this program listed on the Versiontracker main page as I scanned for other updates and I would think to myself "Why would anyone want an standalone app that simply deinterlaces?" Well I finally tried it out and it does much more than that. I really like converting interlaced QT's into progressive 60fps QT's. That is my favorite feature, butit can do other cool stuff as well, so it seems. The interface is a bit funky, but it's not too difficult to figure out. [alert admin]

RockNES 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Choppy

Even on a dual 1Ghz machine such as mine it is extremely choppy. Stick with the old one! It is kind of funny when you think about it though... a dual 1Ghz machine can't run an NES game. Oh well, the old (3.1.3) version was perfect as far as I could tell anyway (except for the sound... keep reading). I hope it is still available for people to download. I may be a moron but I can't get the sound to work properly. It plays in stereo whereas the NES was mono. Perhaps a toggle? [alert admin]

Audio Overload 2.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Alright!

Now I can play the majority of files over at Zophar. Ease of use is good, but the "Forward" and "Back" buttons are usually greyed out. Usually it's no problem for me just to click on the next track in the list, though. [alert admin]

Audio Overload 2.0b2 (Mac OS X)

Not bad...

I'm glad this was updated and love the Turbo/NEC support. I think I liked the old GUI better, but oh well. Unfortunately it still does not seem to be able to read many of the RAR files offered at Zophar. Is this dependent on the installed version of Stuffit or anything like that? Decompressing it manually and cycling through each track individualy isn't as nice as when it's all in one file (which permits the use of the NEXT and PREVIOUS buttns, etc). [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 1.0rc1 (Mac OS X)

Still has annoying bug

This version still has that ANNOYING bug where if you click the menu bar (the section at the top of the screen with the "File", "Edit", and "Bookmarks" etc) too quickly or in a manner that Firefox does not like, you will get the pinwheel of death for a few seconds until Firefox figures out just what the heck is going on. After the pinwheel, you get your menu. Very annoying when I try to open my Bookmarks menu and I have to wait for the pinwheel. I am amazed that nobody else has complained of this.

Once this bug is fixed, I will be much happier, as otherwise Firefox is great. And no I don't have the problem of it sending me back to previous pages on its own. [alert admin]

GameTracker 1.2 (Mac OS X)

I applaud the effort.

I downloaded this eager to try it out, but I was disappointed in a few things that I hope can be remedied. First of all, it has a very limited selection of game systems to choose from. Among the systems that are not available are the Sega Master System, Sega 32X, etc. I want to be able to select from any console ever made. The GUI looks nice just as long as you don't try to use it. I was a bit confused about what could/should be done. I'd also like to see a list of games (titles only) sorted by system. The app is small and when it goes into list view, not many titles can be displayed on one screen. Maybe a tab to switch between systems in list view or some such thing. Also, I could not quit the app. The QUIT command was greyed out! I had to force quit it. [alert admin]

AudioTest 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Nice!

I like it because it has pink noise, and I could use pink noise much more efficiently than white noise when setting levels and EQing. [alert admin]

Photo to Movie 2.5.0 (Mac OS X)

Excellent!

This is like Final Cut Pro for still photos. It is becoming more and more feature-filled. Well worth the money and lots of fun. I like the widescreen ability and also the variable framerates and formats (since I do a lot of 24p work). The only thing I would like to see added is the ability to change directions while panning/zooming/rotating in a individual photo... unless I somehow missed it? [alert admin]
