AlchemyTV DVR 2.5 (Mac OS X)
Sound distortion after switching channels, occational klicks and buzzes. Changing audio input in Audio/Sound Prefs has the same effect. Probelm is new after ver.2.5 installation. Mac OS 10.4.8 on a 1.4GHz Quicksilver. [alert admin]

DVD2oneX 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Very disappointing! Crashes frequently on several ripped DVDs after selecing the VIDEO_TS folder. Version 1.4.2 has no problems with those. Their tech support gave me a very unfriendly answer after asking for refund. It is like "you had a chance to try it before you buy". They don't even ask for crash reports. No I paid for beta software that is far from stable. There are alternatives: TOAST 7/Popcorn and the new NTI Dragon FliX. [alert admin]

AlchemyTV DVR 2.2.3 (Mac OS X)
My problem is that any recording stops after a random amount of time. In the beginning support was great, but it seems they have no solution for my problem so they simply stopped responding. I think the product is end-of-life. I bought an HD/DVD recorder anyway. [alert admin]

Useless for me. The older versions had more than just one server I could choose from. [alert admin]

Don't buy this product. I received a corrupt ZIP file that does not unpack. No response on my e-mails yet. I actually wnated to buy ReadDVD from them, a UDF 2.0 driver since Mac OS X does not supoort UDF versions higher than 1.5. I was seduced to buy GreatVideo since I originally wanted to edit recordings from my DVD-RAM recorder. I thought it could help me with those VRO files. This company does not even test their own ZIP archives whether they unpack or not. Beware! [alert admin]

I received a PP file made with some old PP version under WIN 95. I couldn't open it with any of the available PCs or Macs around here, also Keynote failed. I finally found a PC running WIN 98 and an old PP version. Even this version of PP required a long time to do the conversion to the newer format. So MS Software is not even compatible to itself? Thanks for the hint! I had the same problem with CD-covers not associated to the correct album. Here is the fix: Go to the iTunes 7 Music Tab, uncheck the option to display Cover Art on the iPod. Synch. Check theoption again to display Cover Art and you are done after another sync. What it does: iTunes will rebuild the cover database.

NetBarrier also has a "phone home blocker" integrated. Disabling NB fixes the issue, too. Do they share the same code library? Cheers, Joachim

After renaming it from .zip to .dmg it unpacked (mounted). Installation went flawlessly. Finally a UDF Driver that works with DVD-RAM disks. I've yet to try the Great video application. Their website seems to work again. They also promised to fix the extension of the download file. More stars later ;-)
