AIM for Mac 1.1 (Mac OS X)
AIM for Mac continues to show a TOTAL lack of commitment to the growing Mac market by delivering an AIM experience that feature wise is built from the ground up for the Mac platform back in 2001! This application and AOL's other sad attempts are an embarrassment! Even Yahoo can get their voice and video working on the Mac forget that Apple's managed to get it to work. I can only pray that somehow in this economic downturn AOL finds a way to finally implode and we can all move on. Waste of time...if all you want is Chat, use Adium, if you want voice/video, use iChat. This is a waste of hard drive space. [alert admin]

FM Starting Point 1.0v2 (Mac OS X)
A lot of templates you see, especially free ones, are shells and provide minimal features with promises of more if you upgrade. This is a really nice template that covers all the bases REALLY well. If nothing else it will teach you good organization and design and maybe a more than a few tricks! I'm looking forward to digging into it! [alert admin]

Intego ContentBarrier X5 10.5.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm sorry, while this product sounds interesting, because of Intego's constant pushing and crying wolf at every little proof of concept Mac virus I can't support buying any of their products. They have worked very hard at any opportunity to make financial gains on any mention of Mac malware and the like. It wasn't as if they were just doing a service for their customers but the obvious "glee" they exhibited every time that turned me off to them. It's too bad because they make some great stuff I'll need when these do start to appear. But even then I will just work other options and refuse to give these people a dime. [alert admin]

Photo to Movie 4.2.2 (Mac OS X)
How is it that an application that has less than a 1000 downloads and no reviews gets highlighted in blue on the Version Tracker web page? Inquiring minds want to know.... [alert admin]

AIM for Mac 1.0 (Mac OS X)
That's being nice! This is what should have been released 6-8 months after the release of OS X 10.1. It's far FAR F-A-R behind the Windows version and AOL seems not to care. This offers really NOTHING, other than SMS, over the product we have suffered through with for more than 5 years! F-I-V-E years! [alert admin]

AIM for Mac Beta 4 (Mac OS X)
So here is my review: It's a competent AIM client for text messaging, some SMS, and a file transfer or two. It's the AIM client AOL should have released when OS X became the primary OS for the Mac. As I said, it seems to function well, and is clean UI wise, VASTLY superior to the existing AIM client. Having said all this the world has gone far beyond this today and so has the Windows client. Without video etc., it's not as good an AIM solution as iChat is and when all you want to do is text chat products like Adium allow you to use one app to chat with all platforms so I can't see where this falls? You would hope that AOL had a contract with Apple to leverage the iChat code in return for access to the AIM network but I guess that's not the case. I really see no reason for this software or the effort that's being put into it, any more than Desktop for Mac that is equally weak in comparison to it's Windows or the old OS X 5.X counterpart. With Mac share growing AOL should either work for platform parity (Windows, Mac, Linux) and differentiate itself and it's offerings that way using web 2.0 tools or close up shop. This slow bleed is hard to watch from the sidelines. If I could just run the company for a day...ugh... [alert admin]

AIM for Mac Beta 3 (Mac OS X)
AOL lost it's opportunity to own the instant message application market. All they are now is like an ISP or the phone company. This is nothing but a tear off from that other misguided project AOL Desktop for Mac. AOL is trying to make a two for one here and both are subpar and years late and a million features short. You have to think that in this economy AOL needs to lay people off right? Start with this group they ad "0" ZERO value to us as users. iChat is more robust and Adium and more flexible. AOL Desktop is just a non-starter. So let's all pack it up and go home as friends! [alert admin]

Guess what I got when I tried? "We're sorry, the You've Got Pictures service does not currently support the browser you are using. To use the You've Got Pictures service, please use the latest version of the Netscape browser. Once you have launched your Netscape browser window, go to http://pictures.aol.com. Download Netscape now" Download NETSCAPE!!!! OMG! Please....kill this! [alert admin]

Warning! Breaks CNN (for me anyway!)
For those that care this, for me, seems to have killed my ability to watch CNN content. YouTube seems to work though the processor demands are still VERY high. [alert admin]

Excellent Program - Steep Price
I think it's funny to read these people that say it's not too expensive. Sorry but $40 to manage something for free applications? IS TOO EXPENSIVE! Look at all the work that goes into FireFox and these other tools and you're willing to pay $40 just to "better" manage the passwords with those applications? It's almost 30% of what you can buy OS X for! So if Apple built this into…

I disagree! I don't think they are taking mac development "seriously" and this is just to give them a "available for Mac OS X" checkbox. It's no where near the feature set of the Windows product and lacks video support like iChat and Yahoo IM. So what's here? I'll tell you what...a split off piece of the AOL Desktop effort in an attempt to get a two-for-one engineering effort with a…

Why are you using the no longer supported Windows Media Player for .wmv files? You should use Flip4Mac and run under QT or better yet VLC

This is great, downloads YouTube videos!
You can download from YouTube using Safari's Activity window and if you append "&fmt=18" to the end of the URL you get the iPhone QT compatible version too!

Beta means internal testing has found it ready for external testing in what should be unique situations the standard test suite wouldn't find. There is NO WAY on God's green Earth, that CNN and YouTube are not on the standard QA plan. If they aren't someone needs to be replaced. These are obvious defects in the software which should make it not beta quality. People can't test what doesn't work! …

Piece of crap as the previous beta
Same here! Don't you think CNN would be on the basic QA test plan before beta? I don't understand how they can call this beta when it breaks the #1 news site's video feed?!?!?! If I were the Product Manager that would be a no go for beta.

Beta software is defined as feature complete. Of course there are bugs and people will expect that. There is NOTHING wrong or inappropriate about commenting on them here so others can make a more informed decision. Your attitude could use some QA testing!

This software is a good replacement for the original.
Funny, we don't care about your review either! At least I had the courtesy not to rate it and you give it 4 stars! Do you work for AOL? You think this is a "good experience" mail, IM, and Web with ads all over? And this is better than Apple Mail, Safari, Address Book , and iChat how?
