Aviation Weather 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Massive! Thanks!

Very useful and well implemented. I also look forward to more aviation widgets. [alert admin]

Cover Version 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Works, some rough edges

This little plugin works pretty much as advertised -- displaying cover art and album and track titles. The rotating cube effect is nice. A couple of issues: First, the documentation isn't clear about how you get to the preferences settings. Since this is accessed by clicking on the button in the circle at the upper right-hand corner of the iTunes windows, it can only been found in windowed mode. Not a problem, but also not explained in the documentation. Second, escaping out of full-screen mode results in some very weird video artifacts, at least it does on my Mac. In fact the entire desktop and menu bar are scrambled. This looks more serious than it is, apparently. Moving windows around the desktop erases this effect. A programing goof I hope the developers will correct. More effects would be great too of course. [alert admin]

File Juicer 2.9.2 (Mac OS X)

Instant Crash

Same problem as previous commenter -- all pdf files cause File Juicer to quit unexpectedly. Given that earlier commenters are experiencing success with this application, I will theorize that it was broken by the 10.3.9 update. [alert admin]

FaxEmailHelper 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

How about telling us what the product actually does?

That might help! (Yes, I checked the developer's web site -- it just repeats the lack of information provided here.) [alert admin]

PDFLab 1.1 (Mac OS X)

The Best So Far

I've compared all of the pdf combining tools I know about, and this one is the best I've used to date in terms of the quality of the interface and the results. I haven't experienced the ballooning file sizes others report, so perhaps the developer has solved this problem. On my wish-list is the ability to reorder pages, but that's about all I'd add to this useful utility. Highly recommended -- until and if Apple integrates this function into OSX, as they should! AeroFacsDisplay 2.1 (Mac OS X)

DOA

Sadly, this application appears to not work at all, at least not in any way that's apparent to me. I navigated to the sample data file in the preferences, the application warned me that the data was expired (effective 6/10/04), but when I typed in an identifier or clicked on Search, I got the message "one or more required files are missing." The only option provided other than visiting the preferences again is "Purchase..." Forgive me if I'm not interested in opening my checkbook before finding out if any use whatsoever can be made of this application. Two stars for a potentially good idea. [alert admin]

AppleJack 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Causing Icon Corruption?

I'm beginning to wonder if I should be using AppleJack. Every time I allow it to run the full battery of tests, it seems to screw up some of my icons, assigning random one to certain files. Eventually the Mac heals itself but I'll be darned if I know how. Either way, it seems that AppleJack might be doing something it should not. Can the author please respond? [alert admin]

Romeo 0.9.2b (Mac OS X)

Works with Sony Ericsson T637

Romeo seems to work fine with the new Sony Ericsson T637 (the US version of the T630), even though it isn't on the supported phones list. As nearly as I can tell, Romeo is roughly the equivalent of Salling Clicker, but for no cost. The interface isn't totally clear, and the documentation doesn't always help, but again at the price, I'm not complaining (and thank the developer for his efforts!). My only concern is that the developer may not be actively updating the application at this point, which if it's true, would be a real shame, as its got a lot of potential. [alert admin]

RadioRecorder 1.01 (Mac OS X)

Newest Version Works Great!

This is a very handly little application. The initial problems with parsing URLs seems to be fixed and all is well. It may be less polished than the competition, I prefer this application over AudioHijack because it records in MP3 format instead of AIFF. Oh, and it's free! (THANKS!) The author was also very quick to respond to questions. Now, all I'd like to see is the ability to choose a bit rate for recording. [alert admin]

romeo doesn't run on my os 10.2.8 ??

It should. I have no problem with Romeo on 10.2.9 (and it even runs Keynote 2 with the old Keynote control module). My concern now is compatibility with Tiger because development of this application appears to have ceased. If true that would be a great shame, because this is a terrific application. Any info on Tiger compatibility?
