Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne 1.22a (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

1.22a Patch Notes

Here are the patch notes, in case you're wondering what 1.22a does. By the way, connecting to Battle.net will automatically download and install this update. - There is now a replay auto-save feature in the options menu. Replays are automatically saved to the "replay" folder. - The game is now automatically saved in the event of a potential disconnect. These saved games are placed in the "save" folder. - Player color selection can now be limited by the number of players in the game using an option in the "Advanced Options" screen during game creation. - Added an option to always show unit and building health bars. - You can now enable and disable the display of minimap signals from players and other observers using chat commands: /showminimapsignals and /hideminimapsignals. - Added a new in-game cheat "maxfps" to limit the maximum frame rate to the given number. Example: "maxfps 30" will set the maximum frame rate to 30 FPS. [alert admin]

WowMatrix 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Works well, seems safe

I have used WoWMatrix for a few weeks now and I'm fairly impressed. I had some questions which I sent via their website's feedback form and received a very detailed and courteous response. The developers seem to be doing their best to include new addons in supported list and to keep the most recent versions available. It's probably best to manually manage your addons if you have only a few or if you aren't yet familiar with their installation and use. But once you know the basics and have started to collect a substantial number of mods, a utility like this becomes very handy. [alert admin]

TinkerTool 3.7a (Mac OS X)

What's new in 3.7a

From the developer's website <http://www.bresink.de/osx/0TinkerTool/history.html>: Release 3.7a (Build 070602) This new build of version 3.7 reinstates the Japanese language package and corrects some typos in the French user interface. In all other aspects the application is identical to version 3.7. Users of 3.7 only need to upgrade if they like to use the software in French or Japanese. [alert admin]

Intuit Quicken 2005 R6 (Mac OS X)

Was R6 released last month?

I am confused. Q2005R6 was released on 19Mar2007. Why was R6 released AGAIN on 4Apr2007? Was the previous release of R6 last month flawed? Or is today's release identical and VT just happens to have listed it again? [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 1.4.1 (Mac OS X)

USB Overdrive?

I've been using USB Overdrive for over five years, since back when Mac OS 9 was my main operating system. My new mouse is a Logitech MX-1000 Laser Mouse which is terrific, except: 1- I hate the Logitech drivers since I can't have different settings for different applications. 2- I therefore use USB Overdrive (as noted above), but some of the buttons on the new mouse are not recognized by USB Overdrive. Does anyone know how to get these buttons to work? 3- At seemingly random times, the pointer "jumps" down, exactly vertically, about 20% of the total screen distance. This occurs only when the mouse is in motion, not when it is stationary. When I unplug this mouse and reattach my older Logitech mouse, this behavior disappears. Any ideas as to how to repair this behavior? Is it a problem with my mouse hardware or do I just need to bite the bullet and install the Logitech drivers? [alert admin]

TiVo Desktop 1.9.1 (Mac OS X)

Where is TiVo To Go?

I want feature parity. Given that the TiVo itself uses Unix, I don't see why we can't have a Mac OS X version of TiVo To Go. I've had my TiVo for three years now and I can't imagine going back to plain old TV. But I can certainly imagine going to Elgato's EyeTV because I'm tired of being treated like a second-class TiVo customer because I use a Mac. [alert admin]

batdown 0.9 (Mac OS X)

Why is this here?

This doesn't belong on Version Tracker. Things like this cause gobs of lost productivity and waste the time of the uninformed. [alert admin]

Adobe Reader 6.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Version Number

The app updates only 6.0.2 --> 6.0.3 so you have to make sure you update to 6.0.2 before applying this update. In addition, 6.0.2 will not recognize, through the "auto-update" feature, that a 6.0.3 update is available; it must be installed manually. Finally, once the app is updated to either 6.0.2 or 6.0.3, the "About Acrobat" menu within the app correctly identified it as that version but the Finder's Get Info continues to identify the app as 6.0.1 – probably Adobe's fault for not updating the metadata. I prefer using Apple's Preview, but Adobe's free Reader app does have some functions that Preview lacks, so it is a must-have. It's just not what it could be either in terms of functionality or support. [alert admin]

You Control: Tunes 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)

Very useful

This is a very nice utility, and it's free. In order to get the 1.2.4 update, you have to download and install the 1.2.3 version (which is what you get both from VersionTracker's download links and from downloading at the company's website) and then use the Update feature in the program to get 1.2.4. Documents To Go Premium Edition 7.002 (Mac OS X)

Works great, upgrade prices too high

I have been using Document To Go for years, and it works flawlessly for me. I've purchased every upgrade and been happy with the new features and capabilities. However, 5-->6 came very quickly, and now 6-->7 – while both added some useful new functions – is just too expensive for an upgrade for a peripheral application. $30? Too much. I get a new Palm every two-three years and DTG is usually bundled with it. So why should I bother? Dataviz would get more of my business, for this and other products, if they lowered the upgrade price. I will not be upgrading to version 7. [alert admin]

Does Permissions Repair ever end?

Thanks for the hints, guys. I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.5 and Applejack 1.3 so I don't think that was the problem. After three hours I hit my Cube's reset button and did a permission repair from the Disk Utility app, which took its usual 5-10 minutes. I then booted into single-user mode again just to use Applejack to run disk repair, which found nothing wrong. I'll hesitate to use Applejack for permission repair until…
