Spring Cleaning 10.0 (Mac OS X)
I've foolishly tried several versions of this product through the years (and on several Macs) and it has NEVER worked correctly, causing far more harm than good. It's your call if you want to try it, but I'd suggest you avoid it like the plague. I can guarantee I'LL never download it again. [alert admin]

iBlog 2.0 RC3 (Mac OS X)
Will not launch since upgrade to Leopard
I just updated to Leopard and when I try to open iBlog, it completely locks up my Mac. It bounces on the doc, then stops bouncing, and all I get is a spinning ball. I can't even force quit and have to turn off the power and restart. I've opened a problem ticket with Lifli, but gotten no response. This product hasn't been updated since 08/2007. It might be time to give up and move on to an actively supported product. [alert admin]

FileMaker Mobile 8 is an overpriced, underpowered, piece of junk. There are so many things it doesn't do that I can't even begin to list them. It's essentially a very basic list manager and a poor one at that. I keep going back to it and trying it again, thinking that it CAN'T be as bad as I think it is, but it never fails to shock and disappoint. An utter and complete waste. Filemaker should be ashamed. Maybe I'll try the HanDBase conduit again... [alert admin]

Missing Sync for Palm OS 4.0.3 (Mac OS X)
I had zero problems with my Mac or my Palm until I installed this piece of junk. There are so many things wrong, I don't know where to start. How about this? o I have to try 5 or 6 times before it actually starts. o It crashes nearly every time I try and sync. o When it does sync it corrupts the data on my Palm. o It's slower than the Palm HotSync manager. The feature that interested me (conduit profiles) is nice, but it' s no good IF IT DOESN'T SYNC!!!!! Avoid this like the plague. I want my money back! [alert admin]

Final Draft 7.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
FinalDraft also has what would charitably be called an annoying and intrusive licensing scheme if it actually worked. This upgrade requires you enter your customer number before downloading. Using a form on their site, I requested a copy of my customer number. When it arrived, I entered it into the download form. It didn't work. What the h***? They gave me an invalid customer number? WeatherPop Advance 2.0 Preview (Mac OS X)
I just downloaded the newest preview (2.2 I think) and it works like a charm so far on my G4 Cube (O X 10.2.8). Can't say I'm particularly excited about the screensaver, but it is kind of a nice addition. [alert admin]

MacWasher 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I was a big fan of Machwasher on OS 9 and was very happy to see an OS X version. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work. The wash runs for awhile and then gives a "program stopped unexpectedly" error. A really nice interface. If only it worked. Also, the installer put MacWasher in my home directory/application folder and never offered me the chance to put it in the general applications folder (with all my other apps). I'll try the next version if it pops up here though. [alert admin]

WeatherPop Advance 2.0 Preview (Mac OS X)
I tried installing the WeatherPop Advance 2.0 Preview and it simply didn't do anything. I followed the installation instructions to the letter and nothing appeared in my menu bar or even showed up in the Process Viewer. Others are having this same issue. I just reinstalled 1.8.6 which works fine. I have a G4 Cube running Mac OS X 10.2.8. If this is only for Panther they should label it as such. [alert admin]

VersionTracker Pro X 2.6.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm a former subscriber and I can tell you from experience that this is a complete waste of money. The VersionTracker website and emails are a great service, but the "Pro" version just doesn't work right, often missing needed updates or identifying updates that are already in place. [alert admin]

Mail Courier 1.00 (Mac OS X)
providing some detail somewhere about what exactly this syncs? Does is only sync in, out, sent, and drafts folders? Does it sync my filed emails? This sounds interesting, but the web site gives no details at all. I don't see me trying this until I get more info than "syncs Entourage email". [alert admin]

Then a new version comes out (with a few minor bug fixes and cosmetic enhancements) and they charge you full price again. Don't buy into FileMakers rip off pricing!

I downloaded the version 2 trial version and the differences between 1 and 2 are little more than cosmetic. Virtually none of the functionality changes are what people really wanted (based on the FileMaker Bento forums). So now, they're rewarding the early adapters (the ones who beta tested and provided feedback for their product) by requiring them to pay full price a second time . What a scam....

Here's an interesting bit of weirdness... I just replaced my old iMac with a new 24", 3.06 GHz iMac and iBlog is working again. Go figure....

As an update, FinalDraft got back to me (w/in 72 hours). And now, for reasons unknown, the customer number number works. Oh well. But there you have it. I'm updated and back to work.

Thanks to those who have tried to help and asked if I've registered FinalDraft. You've been more help than the folks at FinalDraft. : ) Alas, I HAVE registered. But my customer number still doesn't work. And no word from the company...
