Hostal 1.3.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Easier than setting up your own, and works ![]()

After getting ready to put my own hosts file implemetation in OS X.3.3 I discovered Hostal. It works, works easily and without any visible problems. For those concerned about pw entry directly into program, Little Snitch isn't reporting any calling out by Hostal. I'll trust it, pay for it, use it. [alert admin]

Hogwasher 3.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Due to Hogwasher's power and flexibility there is a bit of a learning curve and it's worth it. HW has worked through all the OS upgraes into Panther and has never given a moment's trouble. The filters are expecially powerful and easy to set up. While reading downloaded messages the ability to grab a single msg that looks interesting is appreciated. HW has been well worth the money. A Cook's Books 0.8.6.2 (Mac OS X)
Don't worry about "beta" designation ![]()

It's a beta program because the author keeps adding new features and making the program better, not because it's in at an "experiment on users" level. It was easy but time consuming to import txt MC files, but it worked well, and now the MC import capability is much improved. I'd like to see nutritional information eventually. The interface simplicity is nice after dealing with MC. I don't see any downside to this program and look forward to it becoming better and better. [alert admin]

Cookie Muncher 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)
Cookie Muncher has almost solved Safari's (and IE's) shortcomings in handling cookies for me. Don't need it for OmniWeb--OW is a model for cookie handling. Although CM could be enhanced (to remember the window size of listed cookies, and to show which browser's cookies go with which cookie value) it is well worth the registration price. [alert admin]
