Pacifist 2.6 (Mac OS X)

Why pay 20 bucks??

Why would you pay for something that you could easily right-click and select "Show Package Contents" instead for free. Then, easily extract the appropriate files. C'mon people... think here. [alert admin]

Mac Pilot 2.2.9 (Mac OS X)

AppleJack is better...

None of these troubleshooting apps allows you to do disk repairs from the startup volume. This is a problem unless you have a different boot volume kicking around. Solution: The cleanest, monthly maintenance app by far: AppleJack. Oh, and it's free! If you want to tweak your other system settings, make sure you know what you're doing with these other apps. AppleJack is a no-brainer. I'm not bashing Mac Pilot b/c it's generally good at what it does. Simply preference for AJ d/t disk repair option. [alert admin]

Mine Swept 1.45 (Mac OS X)

not bad, not great

Unlike the developer, I will complain about this version. First the good: nice sound effects-- the chime, even the batteship sounds. The not-so-good: I guess I'm used to the smilie that you can easily click on to start a new game, rather than having to pan over and click on "new game", which is a bit boring in itself. How about a Risk-style cannon or something to click on instead? Most importantly, one should be able to click on surrounding numbers once it's clear where the mine is, in order to expose empty spaces. This version is tedious in that regard, where you have to click on each square separately. I prefer the classic-looking minesweeper widget at this time, but the sound effects on this one increase the rating by a star. [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

Works fine for V200

Just bought my V200 (on sale at Staples for $29 CDN), downloaded and installed the Logitech Control Center software on my 1.25GHz PB, 80 G HD, 2GB RAM, Mac OS 10.4.4. On the required restart, it hung up and I had to power down. Once up and running, however, mouse works like a charm. 4 stars for horizontal scrolling, minus 1 for hanging up on the restart. Shouldn't have to restart on a Mac anyhow; this ain't Windows. [alert admin]

Mercury 1708b13 (Mac OS X)

what about A/V support?

Does anyone know of a mac-friendly IM that supports A/V? My windows friends laugh and won't play any reindeer games with me. :( [alert admin]

Great Application

I'm not a tech geek. It's just a simple point of observation that if you right-click on any .pkg file, you are able to look and extract the files and installers quite easily yourself and save $20. All this company has done is put a really nice GUI on top. But Apple's OS already offers the ability inherently. If you want to spend 20 bucks, go ahead. I was simply trying to point out that it…
