Apple Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Mac OS X)

Caused Problems

I only had 10.5.7 on for a half hour. Safari and Camino took a long time to load pages and was a few steps behind as I was typing. The beachball spun and spun. I had to Archive the old Operating System. I put 10.5.7 on because my keyboard kept freezing in 10.5.6. I'm still not sure if it was the OS or if the keyboard has issues. Too soon to tell. It never froze in earlier OS's. I won't go back to 10.5.7. I'll wait until the new OS comes out and they get the bugs out of that. MacPro 3.2GHz [alert admin]

VueScan 8.5.03 (Mac OS X)

Excellent Scanning Software

I use an hp8300 large format scanner. Being an illustrator, it's important for me to get accurate scans. I have been using older versions of VueScan for over a year. It works so much better than SF or SW. Faster, easier, smoother. I've noticed less warm up time. And unlike SF, you actually get support. Mac Pro 2x-3.2GHz - Quad Core [alert admin]

VueScan 8.4.80 (Mac OS X)

Best Scanner Software

I had used SilverFast in the past, but with 10.5, I kept getting freezes in Photoshop CS3. Since buying and using VueScan, I've had no problems, and get quick support when needed. IMO, it is easier and faster to use. Great piece of software! I'm on a Mac Pro and using a Microtek ScanMaker i700. [alert admin]

Eudora 8.0.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Using Eudora 6.2.4 - works fine!

I have Mac Pro with 10.5.2 and using Eudora 6.2.4. I wish the team would continue to create this fine email app. It's streamlined, easy to use, no extra bells and whistles that aren't needed. I discovered you have to shut off the Eudora sounds for it and substitute mac sounds--and no problems. [alert admin]

Corel Painter X 10.0 (Mac OS X)

Painter X working with Leopard!

Painter is a wonderful program that does what no other paint program can do. I've heard back from Corel's tech support via customer service and they said it will run slower if you have more than 4 GHz of memory. With 4 Ghz, it works like a charm. I'm running a MacPro 3.2- Leopard 10.5.2 - 4 GHz ram [alert admin]

VueScan 8.4.71 (Mac OS X)

Works Great! Microtek-Leopard

After being driven batty with SilverFast SE freezing Photoshop CS3, I found VueScan. Works flawlessly on my MacPro! Using 10.5.2 with a Microtek ScanMaker i700 firewire scanner. [alert admin]

Better Search 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Excellent Utility!

I was able to find files I needed to uninstall from root folders Spotlight wouldn't locate. Leopard's Spotlight doesn't give you access to them anymore, which is a HUGE MISTAKE. For the price of the new Mac Pro's you'd think you'd get a better search engine, not one that does less. It's slow because it's more thorough than Mac's old Find, but worth the wait. Thanks for making this app. I don't know if it's possible, but maybe the developer can make it do a quicker search at some point by giving us the choice to choose visible or invisible files. Great Job in creating this! [alert admin]

Corel Painter X 10.1 (Mac OS X)

Painter Xi?

Can anyone find out if they are upgrading Painter to work with Leopard? From all the forums I've read, people are having major issues with it, and it is near impossible to contact Corel. No answer on the forums regarding this. Please post if any news. [alert admin]

Flip4Mac WMV 2.2.0.39 (Mac OS X)

flip4mac caused kernel panics

Like everyone else is saying, it doesn't play wmv files most of the time. Also, it caused both firefox and camino to 'shift' where you typed comments in boxes and left 'white' blocks over the page where you couldn't see the content. When I uninstalled it, everything ran smoothly and no more kernel panics. I hear thru the grapevine that they do have a fix for this, but for some reason, haven't released it yet. [alert admin]

Painter 11 Is Available

I agree. There is no customer service. Great program, but becoming less Mac friendly. Sad.

Eudora is still better!

I also agree 100%! It seems developers are making apps more complicated, more unnecessary 'bells an whistles' than streamlining for quick and easy use. I think TB is more like Mail than Eudora.

Excellent Utility!

I found out I can search system files in spotlight. It doesn't find invisible files, but I can get into the sys files by choosing 'other' and selecting sys files. Sorry if I misled anyone.
