Speed Download 5.0 (Mac OS X)
The reality is that the interface is not changed much and where it has, I preferred the former version. I can see few other benefits, especially when most "new" functions (and there are not many substantial ones) can be obtained from simple free programs that I already have and I could probably do without them anyway. Also, I have noticed that throttling has gone. Also my total download speed seems to have been capped at 64kbs and I cannot see why or how to change this. And my floater has gone - maybe I need to look for it but why should I? It will cost me ~£8 to upgrade and I don't think it is worth it this time. I can see that Version 4 remains in the Applications folder. Hopefully it will still work and I can simply bin version 5. I have been with this program since very early days as a fully paid up customer but I think I've paid enough. So, I can't recommend this version to present users of version 4 unless it changes substantially with updates (note updates, not upgrades) as it is too similar to the last version. And by the way, any bugs removed does not warrant a fee as they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Maybe new users will find it useful but for me the program is getting tired and I will look elsewhere. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Mac OS X)
I was so keen to get rid of the bugs in 10.5(.1) that I upgraded immediately that the SU showed 10.5.2. was available. Then I came for a look at VT to see that the only available version was for Intel and not PPC. Maybe that's why after a huge download and slow installation I find little has changed. Maybe I just haven't found out how to murder those horrible stacks that I heard 10.5.2. was supposed to allow! [alert admin]

Apple Leopard Graphics 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Hey, this and the 10.5.2 update have brought new life to my 2GHz PCC iMac. Fast, fast, fast! And Dock list view is back. Christmas came very early in 2008! I love you Apple. [alert admin]

We need a Leopard version of this great plugin. It starts, loads artwork from the web but is unable to transfer it to iTunes (version 7.5). [alert admin]

Using Leopard 10.5.1. and iTunes 7.5. On first use MPFreaker started to install the itunes library but crashed part way through. Go directly to trash (via AppZapper). Goodbye! [alert admin]

Works OK but processor sucker!
Version 8 under Leopard on my G5 2GHz 2Gb iMac typically demands 45-50% of the processor (as shown by Activity Monitor) to convert and burn a video file (such as an avi, divx or mpeg). It even uses 15-17% when open but not doing anything! This substantially slows down the computer and makes multitasking with say, MS Office, a painful process. The time taken to do this converting and burning is absolutely stoneage taking hours and hours, and whichever brand of DVD I try (and believe me I've tried dozens, cheap and expensive, unbranded and top brands) I can never exceed the x2 burn speed. My DVD burner can supposedly do x8. However, Toast works OK and I can't remember any wasted disks. The interface is clean and it is very easy to use, most functions being obvious without resorting to any manuals. But then, that is the easy bit to program. The functionality is the hard bit to program and like most modern gadgets, gizmos and software, they look flashy but the performance is often lacking. What more can I say? There aren't many Mac compatible alternatives out there so I suppose we have to cope with Toast. [alert admin]

Speed Download 4.1.18 (Mac OS X)
I have found the latest versions of SD to work just fine with no problems at all. This is in contrast to Safari 3 and Leopard (incl 10.5.1) that continue to generate a plethora of problems and usability issues (all experienced by many other users). Keep up the good work SD team. Your program is indispensable and seems to work well through all adversities that Apple throw at it. [alert admin]

You Control: Tunes 1.6 b1 (Mac OS X)
Back to working again after the previous version would not load for me in Leopard. This is an excellent program. It is readily adjustable with loads of features and sits unobtrusively in the toolbar. And, best of all, it's free! Many thanks developer. [alert admin]

Temporary Fix for Transcoded flv to mp4 Files!
Thanks for that tip. I was so angry with Apple that I never thought to try something like that! Well done.

Exactly the opposite worked for me - SU just got stuck, but the VT link worked fine. Strange days with Leopard. It never used to be like this .... until the iPhone got in the way (pretty, but out of date out of the box).

Read the instructions!!! If you have a problem with Safari 3, the instructions say to uninstall using the provided uninstaller. This then removes Safari 3 and reinstalls Safari 2 with all of your previous settings.

To get the full version for Safari 3 Public Beta...
Tried your advice and it works! Pity the email link from the developer when I purchased does not work as indicated: "Any new release can be downloaded from the URL mentioned before, you do not need to download the public installer at my site." Also, as in the previous version I have a problem with the first tab always being replaced with a duplicate of the last tab when reopening Safari. For such a nicely designed plugin,…

I just used the link from Kagi that I received for my paid for version. The then downloaded version of Saft says it is not compatible with the version of Safari (3.02). I have repeated this three times. Pathetic system of upgrade!

It's about choice - or lack of knowledge
I agree with Argyll, it's easier to use ctrl-scroll. Many people don't know the little features of OS10.4 and there are many of them! Why bother with extra applications when there are built-in features that are much quicker to use? Don't have a scroll mouse? Oh dear!

Watch "What the "Bleep" Do We Know!?" and you will have experienced a subliminal message - "You've been shafted!" The sort of film that gives ammunition to the anti-science brigade. 50% of the science it contains is untrue and ridiculous.
