Apple iWeb 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)
iWeb3 is bugged. It has trouble with ftp, with blogs, images are misplaced in the blog summary page and in the rss feed. Images are being misplaced from one blog into an other. There is trouble with uploading. In short iWeb3 was not ready for release. [alert admin]

RapidWeaver 4.2.1 (Mac OS X)
A few days ago I got an email offer from MySmithMicro to buy RapidWeaver for $29.99. After I entered my order (after having added some extra costs, something like guaranteed download in case of need to reinstall; UPS shipment if chosen would cost about $50), I wanted to pay for it, but neither the creditcard option nor the PayPal option were accepted by them. Their customer service was weird too. I first thought this was a phishing site, but they assured me it wasn't. If their own software doesn't work properly, then their products can't be promising. So I guess this offer was just a scam. [alert admin]

Apple iLife 09 (Mac OS X)
I would not advise people to buy iLife09. In particular iWeb is very bugged. The blog does not work as advertised. It places images in the wrong entries on the main blog index page and the rss feed it produces is faulty. There was no problem with iWeb2, but now blogging has practically become impossible. And there are more issues with iWeb3. It seems Apple is going for bling, by adding useful stuff like YouTube and html widgets, but the bugs are defeating these small improvements. iWeb3 is unstable. Even for personal, amateur use it is of no use, unless Apple releases a bug fix. [alert admin]

TubeSock 3.0b19 (Mac OS X)
Since a few months TubeSock no longer works. With each save command I get a pop-up window saying 'the file does not exist'. You don't get a reply from the developers to complaints. That is very bad service for a paid app. [alert admin]

Kanji Go .9k (Mac OS X)
This is the best app for learning Japanese so far, and it is being improved on a regular basis. I use it daily. Congrats to the developer. [alert admin]

Thoth 1.8.3 (Mac OS X)
After doing a permission repair it still did not install properly. It quits after start up. So I am back to the previous version. It seems a very wacky version, that needs a very meticulous install, a permission repair before and after and a sweep with DiskWarrior or anything else first. Not recommended. [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Firefox 2 has some improvements but also some problems. It is sometimes slow when selecting a text or a url in the browser. That can take several seconds, even up to a minute or the selected text will not appear at all as selected. This is very annoying when you are trying to copy and paste from the browser. For blogging I need to have open sometimes more than 10 pages at the same time. It seems this slows down the selecting of text and/or urls very much. When a url is selected and then something else, the first selection is not annulled as it should be. [alert admin]

Melody Assistant 7.2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
What a terrible interface. The manual is not intended for clarity. In short, I removed it. [alert admin]

I am on Mac 10.3.9 and the Democracy 8.0.1 version crashed here too. Now it won't start. Back to version 8. Splendid initiative, though. Success!

Or as one user before suggested: change the hqx into dmg in the file name. Then it works.

That's what this comments things if for: to point to problems, so that they can be remedied.

Forgot to mention, I had done an upgrade of NetBarrier to 10.3.1 before installing Panther.
