DownThemAll! 0.9.9.4 (Mac OS X)
The concept of this download helper plugin is great and gives great hopes ... but the current implementation is annoyingly buggy. If you try to download files that already exist at the destination folder, the plugin becomes almost completely unsusable and I had to force-quit Firefox repeatedly. -- From v. 0.9.9.4 to 1.0.0.0, I'm afraid there's still a long road !! Nevertheless, this plugin is very promising. [alert admin]

Untar 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
Tool wrappers like this is what a GUI addict needs, especially for rather exotic formats like 7z. The utility works without any problem. Thanks a lot! [alert admin]

SafariPlus 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
This little extension fits in perfectly with Safari and fixes the major flaw of this otherwise very nice browser. [alert admin]

StuffIt Expander 10.0.1 (Mac OS X)
While Stuffit used to be the de-facto compression standard on Mac OS 7 thru 9, it has meanwhile become almost completely obsolete, except for old .sit files that you occasionally happen to encounter. This is its only remaining raison d'ĂȘtre. For any other compression format, there are faster and more reliable solutions available for free. ZIP is supported by Mac OS X itself. Stuffit isn't worth a cent any more. [alert admin]

Tomato Torrent 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
Most reliable torrent client I've used so far ![]()

Obviously, every torrent client has its pros & cons. This one is reasonably fast and seems quite robust and bug-free. Instead of opening a separate panel window for every single torrent download, I'd prefer a table display as in BitTorrent 4.1.2, but the download behaviour of the latter program is considerably less stable and the windows do not update correctly after download resumes or drag & drop operations. At the moment, I prefer Tomato as the least annoying compromise between reliability, d/l speed, features and ease of use. Bits on Wheels has a much more elaborate GUI but the downloads are terribly slow and the program excessively abuses disk space. BitTorrent, on the other hand, offers the fastest downloads I've seen so far, but the GUI, though very well designed, is rather poorly implemented and buggy (windows don't update correctly). HP DeskJet 3.3 (Mac OS X)
Works perfectly (at least for me!) ![]()

I really do not understand all that harsh criticism concerning lack of quality of this HP DeskJet driver. For me, it has always worked flawlessly with my DJ 970cxi under Mac OS X (up to Tiger). If only every 3rd party device driver were written that well! [alert admin]

GetDilbert 1.3 (Mac OS X)
There is still no refresh at all; the button so called doesn' t do anything. I still prefer iBert 2.12 by far. [alert admin]

macam 0.8.1b1 (Mac OS X)
0.8.1b1 works fine with Philips ToU Cam + Mac OS X 10.4 ![]()

Great! Finally it makes my new Philips ToU Cam Pro II work with Mac OS X 10.4 at no cost. While the standalone application version 0.8 already worked without problem, the QT component version 0.8 made my system freeze completely. Version 0.8.1b1 apparently fixes this problem. Now I can use the Philips cam with (e.g.) Keith's Astro Imager. Thanks a lot for also publishing the source code which is very valuable for studying how all this stuff works! [alert admin]
