Intuit Quicken 2006 R6 (Mac OS X)

OL-249 error

A bunch of people have been having this error code pop up when trying to reconcile their credit cards in Quicken 2007. The patch is here: https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/quicken.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=7368 [alert admin]

BlockAde Blitz! 1.0.1.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

PPC only? Compressed in HQX?

Wow, what a trip down memory lane. Hopefully BB will make the jump to Intel before 10.6 makes it totally unplayable. [alert admin]

ACDSee Pro 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)

Slightly offtopic, but...

I wish the company that put out ACDSee Pro continued to develop Canvas for OSX. Lots of unhappy customers when ACD Systems decided to pull the plug... [alert admin]

Times Reader 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Crashes with Safari 4 beta, apparently

Judging from the feedback on the Times reader blog, lots of people are having issues with launching Times Reader after installing Safari 4 beta (Times Reader crashes on launch for me too.) http://firstlook.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/27/mac-software-update-for-times-reader/?apage=2#comments [alert admin]

Marketplace beta 4 (Mac OS X)

Very cool, but driving my CPU nuts.

I love this app. Very great idea, excellent execution. The only drawback is that it's running my CPU at near 100% even when nothing is being searched for. I can provide more info if the developer is interested. [alert admin]

USBCat 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Unusable on modern macs.

PPC only? Bleh. Walk down to your library and compile on their "modern" machines. [alert admin]

Gene Construction Kit 3.0b (Mac OS X)

3.0 beta STILL not Universal Binary.

Wow. I'd have thought that the LONG wait would have resulted in an Intel-native app. Guess not. [alert admin]

Weather Vane 1.5 (Mac OS X)

Strange

It runs as a PPC app (instead of Intel) on my Macbook Pro. Looks real nice... all the other menu based weather programs have become pretty cluttered. This tells me what I want to know - the forecast (not radar, pressure, sparrow velocity, etc). [alert admin]

A second way to do it in OSX

Type your phrase. Highlight it. Option-click on that text. Go down to "Speech" and select "Start Speaking". [alert admin]

Very cool, but driving my CPU nuts.

Of course, restarting the app doesn't show the CPU issue. Oh well - good news is that it's still an awesome program!

What about a non medical....

Tough luck, huh? I don't know why you rated it badly if it is not appropriate to your field (unfortunately). The guys programming this are biomedical researchers, so I would find it hard to believe that they would be able to program in all the referential nuances from fields that they don't study.

hello dev?

Or posters with an overinflated sense of importance who don't thread their discussions in the same comment, and instead overwhelm the commentary with their awesome!!! words. Seriously dude - trim your comments and flail it out with the dev by email.

Doesn't completely uninstall... Really?

Thanks for the response. The Wifind info at the bottom of the menu is gone now, although strangely it took more than one restart to remove it. I don't know how many since I uninstalled the program according to your information several weeks ago but only noticed the Wifind info two days ago. The computer's been restarted multiple times since then. What I did was reinstall Wifind, then re-delete the SIMBL…

Excellent aggregator

I'm sorry, you're wrong. The intel/UB update was just to stop people from harassing them. Spiny removed their support forum for Comictastic (but kept forums for their other applications) and their website says no more development. That's abandoned. If you pay for this, and you have problems, you will NEVER see them addressed. Send your money to a charity instead.

*eyeroll*

Uh, they did acknowledge that the information was wrong in the program, fella. To their credit, they fixed it.
