StuffIt Expander 13.0 (Mac OS X)

??????

What is this good for? I still use version 11 and have not hit any file that it could not open. So, why should I upgrade other than taking the risk of finding some incompatibilities like with Norton AntiVirus? [alert admin]

Leopard Cache Cleaner 4.0.15 (Mac OS X)

Stop it!

Stop adding stupid features that nobody needs and try instead to make this a stable program!!! 15 releases in just 9 months is too much! Even Limewire does better by now. [alert admin]

TechTool Pro 4.6.1 (Mac OS X)

Excellent utility, but ....

Tech Tool Pro saved me from computing desaster more than once! It is very reliable and it's features to prevent problems or at least warn early work perfectly. However, there is one major drawback: Tech Tool Pro is extremely slow when defragmenting the hard disk. Even on my 8-Core-3-GHz MacPro it took more than 2 hours to defrag the internal hard disk which is less than 25% full. Tech Tool Pro uses only less than 20% of the available CPU-power (according to Apple activity monitor) and uses only 64 MB of physical RAM. Since defragmentation has a lot to do with reading data from the hard disk to RAM and write them back to hard disk this seems to be one of the bottle-necks for performance. In a time when even the cheapest consumer level computers are sold with at least 1 GB of RAM this strategy is completely outdated! For 10 years now every single Macintosh comuter was sold with at least 256 MB RAM and Tech Tool Pro does not even run in these machines since it requires at MacOS 10.4 which itself requires at least a G4 computer (which shipped with a minimum of 512 MB RAM). EarthBrowser 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Bye, bye Earthbrowser

Does not work properly (blinking icon in Dock as if an application tries to start but can't). Slow. Probably nice features for the US but useless for the rest of the world. [alert admin]

iSync phone plugins 6.0 (Mac OS X)

Ridiculous!

This is ridiculous! They add a few new phones and make a full version-jump to 6.x just to ask for some cash. No new functionality, not even a bug-fix release. It does not even work when you also use MissingSync for a second PDA/Smart-phone. Keep your fingers away from this company, they are even worse than Adobe. [alert admin]

MacFamilyTree 5.0.9 (Mac OS X)

Upgrade does not work

Just bought the upgrade license. When I try to register it does accept the v.5 license code, however it does NOT except the old license. Sent an E-Mail to dureg.com for help, but they redirected me to synium.de. I did enclose the original E-Mail from the v.1 license but have not received an answer yet (the upgrade option states: "Update MacStammbaum ≥1.x --> 5.x Synium Software GmbH", so it should work). Let's wait and see... [alert admin]
