You Control 1.6 (Mac OS X)
Installed, launched, worked fine for a couple of hours, hung opening a menu, force-quit engine, now engine will not load at all. This update isn't ready yet. Kudos to the company who picked this up for continuing what is a fine product, but gotta get it up and crystal solid or it's effort wasted guys. [alert admin]

Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw & DNG converter 2.3 (Mac OS X)
Don't know what problems the previous poster had, but the Download Now link on the VT page seems to work just fine for me. And Camera Raw has worked just fine for me since its introduction. Fabulous feature...I don't know how I ever did without it. [alert admin]

Snapz Pro X 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Great application, great company. There is simply no screen capture solution on the market that even comes close. I couldn't get through a day without it. [alert admin]

File Buddy 7.6.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
There's a new beta on the File Buddy site for version 8! So far very stable and lots of really cool new features. See http://www.skytag.com/filebuddy/8/prerelease.html [alert admin]

Data Backup X 2.01 (Mac OS X)
Should have stuck with the original
The reason things are so different here is no doubt due to the fact that it's not the same program anymore. The original was a cloned version of TRI-Backup from France, which is now in version 4 and is exceptional. I heartily recommend buying it directly from tri-edre.com [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 6.0 (Mac OS X)
Fool me once, shame on you.... ![]()

...Fool me twice, shame on me. I have no intention of being ashamed. Quark 5 was the buggiest piece of crap every released. Quark support is next to non existent. When referring to Quark, customer service is an oxymoron. I want to hear nothing but positive reviews from people I trust for at least 6 months after release before I pony up dough to this company again. Trouble is, everyone I know is using InDesign now and no one intends to go back to dealing with Quark. [alert admin]

File Buddy 7.2.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I've been using File Buddy since version 3, and I was extremely happy to find it. And I still am. Secondly, while it's tempting to start pricing things for people, I'd say that's Skytag's responsibility, though frankly, I once added up the assorted pieces I'd have to buy to equal File Buddy's feature set, and it came to something like $300. Which makes File Buddy a bargain. Finally, while NotSteve's assessment of release strategies may be well thought out, it really doesn't mean a thing to me. This software has been in development now for -- what? -- 10 years or so without ever ceasing. I know it will be there when I need it, regardless of how Apple changes the OS, regardless of how other software comes and goes. It's fine, it's fabulous, I love it, I recommend it to everyone I know. [alert admin]

File Buddy X 7.0b23 (Mac OS X)
to be a nice addition. With the gazillion files present in an OSX installation, it's now a godsend, and damn near indispensable. As for the comment about pricey, you'd have to add up $200 worth of other single-purpose utilities to come close to File Buddy's feature set, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a bargain. [alert admin]

You should never erase empty space while continuing to work on your computer because you're overwriting your empty space with zeroes in the process. If you have other apps running and trying to write to disk, or running out of VM swap space, you can end up in trouble. Next time be sure you quit all your applications before running erase unused space. And don't forget to send Skytag a bug report!
