FunctionFlip 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Broken on PowerBook?

I cannot get version 2 to work at all on a 1.5 GHz PowerBook. In the Select Keys to Flip section of the preference pane I see "No Special Function Keys". [alert admin]

Minuteur 5.0.5 (Mac OS X)

Fantastic Timer and Stopwatch Program

This program is great, with many features and options to configure for use as a timer and a stopwatch. The support from the developer is outstanding. I encountered a memory error with the PPC version and the developer worked closely with me to quickly find a solution-most impressive! While Minuteur is not free like some timers, it does so much more and is well worth the price. [alert admin]

StartupSound.prefPane 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Works fine for me, as does the Flag

No problems with Tiger here. Anyone having issues should follow the recommendation in the documentation and boot into safe mode-should remove the need for a drastic measure like restoring the system. [alert admin]

NoteTaker 1.9.3 (Mac OS X)

Indices do auto update in NoteTaker

Just a FYI to Mr. Jobs, the indices do update automatically for me. This feature is also documented in the help file: "Every notebook has an index for quickly looking up text, email addresses, entries within particular categories, and all kinds of other information. The index updates itself automatically as you work on the notebook, even indexing information clipped from other applications. " [alert admin]

e2Sync Personal 1.0 (Mac OS X)

It does work, but...

Is it ever expensive! $40 seems at least double what I would expect this utility to sell for. I gather from the e2Sync Web site that, after MacWorld is over, Tiger users will need to pay for an update. [alert admin]

blinkx 0.5 (Mac OS X)

OK, I know it's beta but...

This product shows promise, but it clearly is not ready for an open beta test with the public. The Smart Folders feature does not work, the program does not support OmniWeb for a browser or Entourage for e-mail. In fact, if blinkx is running Entourage will refuse to load, crashing every time it launches. The index feature does not appear to work properly either as it always displays 866 files indexed. The index will not rebuild itself, even though I set new preferences for folders to be indexed. [alert admin]

NoteTaker 1.9.1 (Mac OS X)

The best gets even better!

I cannot add much more than what Kevin Sheridan has already said, but I will comment on the responsiveness of the AquaMinds team. Version 1.9 was released with a bug when publishing Web notebooks with imbedded documents. The problem was identified, fixed, and 1.9.1 was released in less than 24 hours, and on a weekend I might add. This is a great product and the AquaMinds people are top notch as well. I would like to see AquaMinds start an online forum where users could share knowledge of NoteTaker and NoteTaker templates. [alert admin]

SideTrack 1.0 (Mac OS X)

A must-have utility

I have been using the betas of this utility for several months now and I would not want to be without it. Great utility and congratulations on moving out of beta. [alert admin]

HP DeskJet 2.5 (Mac OS X)

Auto-on broken in 2.5?

The auto-on feature appears to be broken in 2.5. With older versions of the HP driver, I could wake and print to the Deskjet 5550 connected to an AirPort Extreme base station. Now I get a "Printer is turned off" error and I must go and turn the printer on manually-what a pain! Please, HP-fix this ASAP. [alert admin]

going back to 1.8

I agree with Bill that the new cover features are great and all of them work for me. The "What's New" document that Bill mentions can be found under the Help menu of NoteTaker. I also have had no problems with the contextual menu in NoteTaker as it works like a charm for me. So far version 1.9 looks like a solid update to me and I would recommend working with it a little longer…
