Audacity X 1.3.5 (Mac OS X)
I've been using 1.3.3 without problems for a Long Time now. I just tried 1.3.5 and... I don't know what to say. I tried loading a large AIFF file and it just crashed. I tried loading a small MP3 file and the waveforms looked OK on the screen but play as static! I tried the same files with 1.3.3 and everything was fine there. I tried both files several times with the same results. So 1.3.5 seems unusable to me right now. [alert admin]

JuhOS X 1.0 (Mac OS X)
It has a strange interface, but actually does do just what I needed just now. Can't select more than one file at a time, though. Tips: The first entry in the list is the parent folder (not clear). Switch drives by the box on the right. [alert admin]

FileZ 6.8.1 (Palm OS)
I can't live without this on my Palm. It gives me access to files I can't get to any other way for beaming or copying between an external card and the internal memory. It's allowed me to fix an AdvantGo problem that wasn't fixed by deleting and re-installing the application. A leftover preference file stayed behind. After deleting it with FileZ and reinstalling, I was back in action. I've tried the other file manipulation utilities but prefer FileZ. It's not for the non-technical but can be a life-saver in the right hands. And it's FREE! [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Mac OS X)
I installed the combo installer with permissions repair before and after on my dual G5. Java is fine, HTTPS works fine with Safari, Firewire is fine, but then, I keep up with my security updates. I did have some trouble with Classic, but rebuilt the desktop, restarted my machine and all is fine now (so the cause remains a mystery). Anyway, I just wanted to give some non-doomsday news about this update. [alert admin]

If you don't want bugs, don't download alpha and beta releases! Wait for the official release! I don't understand the complaints. You should expect some glitches in alpha code. That's what the "a" in the version number means (alpha). b=beta, no letter=official release. I still prefer Mozilla over Firefox so I'm staying until they force me to switch. Got most of my friends to give up MSIE in favor or Mozilla also! It rocks. [alert admin]

BrickHouse 1.2b12 (Mac OS X)
From the author's web page: "I'm of the opinion that people will either pay shareware fees, or they won't. You may use BrickHouse without registering it until you feel that it is worth $25 to you. If you like BrickHouse, you should pay the shareware fee to help ensure future development of the product." [alert admin]

iView MediaPro 2.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I've used it for a long time also. It keeps improving but the price is out of line. I've begrudgingly paid the upgrade fees but would never pay that price to get it new. [alert admin]

Meteorologist 1.3.0a (Mac OS X)
Works the same with Panther here
Behaves identically for me under Panther as under Jaguar. Crashes every other day or so since the last update, but works fine while it's running, at my location (Dallas). [alert admin]

Time Machine will not make a bootable copy of your hard drive. This utility will. Both are useful but do different things.

I don't think it's a 10.4.9 problem. I saw it happen for the first time today.

Finally, I can get rid of my SGIs!
X11 for OSX has been out since Oct 2003. Why can you get rid of your SGIs just now?

Hard program to love (v 1.2.4)
I write AIFF files all the time that iTunes can read and convert. Try setting the preferences for AIFF to 16-bit ACM. Yes, the program has a few glitches, but is the most powerful program I've found. I keep having hopes that Peak LE will someday be usable but it still can't do the job (no multiple tracks--BASIC feature!)

Nope, the size is 938MB. The "file size" link is the link to download the file in VersionTracker. "Form" is VersionTracker's way of telling you that the link will NOT go directly to a download but instead goes to a web page that you must use to sign in or select something. What you download once you get there is up to you, so the size isn't relevant to the link when…

It was not ALWAYS a part of the OS. When iChat AV first came out, it was a separate download. I imagine this entry update was to keep up with the version numbers of iChat AV.

Well, I paid for the beta update and I'm glad I did. It was a significant discount for version 4 when it comes out in final form, plus I get to use the much-improved interface in the beta program until it's final. I even bought a copy for a friend. But, yes, it's not ready for Prime Time yet. That's why it's a beta!! I fully expect the import problem to be…
