Epson Stylus Color 850 6.3AES (Mac OS 9)
review here is for the printer, not the driver, here's my 2 cents: I downloaded the file, expanded it, double clicked the installer in the DISK1 folder, and ran the install. The installer stopped and asked for DISK2 to be inserted. Had to quit out of it. Tried again- same thing. Out of curiousity I double clicked the icons in the DISK2 and DISK3 folders and got splash screens for a Hotline 1.8 installer (!?). Trashed the download, downloaded again, same thing. Tried unsuccessfully to make disk images of the Epson disk folders. Same problem on other partions. Epson E-support's fix failed, too. OH- they said I can order the driver for $9.95...right. 8600/200 with OS 9.0.4, 8.5.1, 8.1. [alert admin]

Epson Stylus Color 850 6.3AES (Mac OS 9)
effort I finally installed this update, and it's running fine with my SC 850. Here's what I had to do: After extracting the main update folder, I saw a Stuffit file called Archive inside the upgrade folder- that's the one to stay away from, because if you expand it and try to use it's installer, you'll get the "please insert Disk 2" loop. What worked was launching the installer located in the root level of the main update folder and ignoring the Archive icon completely. To be safe, I put ALL the old SC 850 software in the Trash (but didn't empty in case it needed to be restored), selected a minimal Ext Mgr set, and Restarted before installing this update. After the install I rebuilt the DT. Gave it 3 stars because of all the hoops I had to go through. Otherwise, it's a welcome update. [alert admin]

finally installing this update, I'm getting the dreaded Remote Access freeze after printing (for a really painful experience see this related forum at MacFixIt: http://www.macfixit.com/ultimate/Forum2/HTML/003351.html) It's time to do what I should've done weeks ago- trash the new Epson files and reinstall the driver from the CD that came with the SC 850. Now if it only runs on OS 9.0.4... Listening Epson? [alert admin]

Iomega Quik Floppy Copy 1.0 (Mac OS 9)
It downloaded, installed, and ran fine. Working in a cross platform environment, I still need floppies and Zips. If this software is so lame/useless because floppies are so dead, then why has it been downloaded (as of this review) 1,995 times since it came out yesterday? [alert admin]
