iEye Captain 1.0.7 (Mac OS X)
Hi (From Developer), I always knew that Elgato would catch up with me -- iEye Captain was mainly useful during the time EyeTV was not delivering infrared or multiple hard drive support, and now that these are both possible within EyeTV, interest in my app has really bottomed out. As a result, I can not afford the development time necessary for a full Leopard update. Version 1.0.8.3 has been workable on Leopard for most users -- if you have bugs to report, by all means please do email them to me. I can't promise any ETA, but if I get enough requests I will try to put some time in over the summer. Thanks for understanding, Graham Jones, Developer. [alert admin]

iEye Captain 1.0.7 (Mac OS X)
Hi,
I have run into some snags, and will unfortunately not have a full Leopard-compatible version until February.
However, you may have some luck with this build (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD).
Thanks for your patience,
Graham Jones,

iEye Captain 1.0.7 (Mac OS X)
Hi (from developer),
I am currently working on Leopard compatibility and expect to release a free update within the next 2-3 weeks. However, I can confirm that until I release this update iEye Captain WILL NOT WORK ON MAC OS 10.5 / LEOPARD.
Thanks for your patience.
Graham Jones,
Developer.

iEye Captain 1.0.7 (Mac OS X)
Reminder: Not officially tested on Leopard yet
Hi, just a reminder that I have not yet tested iEye Captain on Leopard -- I will be getting my copy as soon as I can once they go on sale, and I'll do my best to run it through its paces. If you do decide to upgrade to Mac OS 10.5 and encounter any issues, please contact me directly by email (use "Contact Developer" or "Report a bug by email" from inside the app), and I will do my best to fix the issues quickly. Thanks, Graham Jones, Developer. [alert admin]

iEye Captain 1.0.7 (Mac OS X)
Hi (from developer),
two PPC users have reported that they were not able to get version 1.0.7 to launch.
I am working on a fix and should have it within a couple of days.
If you have also experienced this issue (or to let me know it's working), please email me at info@vidcan.com to let me know you system details and the symptoms.
Thanks,
Graham Jones,
Developer. [alert admin]

iEye Captain 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)
I have made the tough decision that though I will continue to support and debug iEye Captain, I will be discontinuing development of new features. Recent changes in EyeTV are making it difficult to innovate the way that I used to, and because Elgato doesn't share their development schedule with me, I can spend months developing something that is obsolete the day after I introduce it.
iEye Captain's tool box, including rapid-fire screenshots, iCal, alias, and text exporting, infrared control, savable advanced searches, and other features will still be useful for quite some time, and most are unlikely to be added by Elgato anytime soon. And with the new $15 purchase price, it is more cost-effective than ever to add these features.
Thanks for understanding,
Graham Jones,
Developer.

EyeTV 2.3 (Mac OS X)
Excellent support if you report issues properly
Hi,
I just wanted to chime in, in response to the negative posters. Elgato has top notch technical support, and issues responses to properly submitted tech requests in record time.
I've had some issues with my new Mac Pro, and also questions about the EyeTV Hybrid. The longest they took to respond was 90 minutes... I don't know many companies that offer that kind of service.
Also, you have to keep in mind that they support an incredibly wide range of hardware on several operating systems and many hardware configurations, plus dealing with international issues with various TV systems... Yikes!
I guess what I am saying is... If you have issues, please report them properly with as much detail as possible using their web site's support ticket system. That's the only way they have any chance of hearing about these issues and fixing them. And... that will benefit not only you but also any other users who may be experiencing the same issues.
Just so you know, I am in no way affiliated with Elgato. I am a software developer myself, and I know how hard it is to fix bugs if no one tells me about them.
My two bits anyway,
Graham Jones.

Avid Free DV 1.6.1 (Mac OS X)
It's the editor, not the software
Hi, I just wanted to comment as a professional editor who uses any tool needed to do the job (the last 61 episodes of our prime time TV show with FCP, but have worked concurrently on other shows with Avid, Discreet Edit and SpeedRazor), that no serious company cares what software the editor uses. They hire the editor, not the software. Great films have been made for a hundred years but cutting plastic and taping it with gummy tape. FAR worse system than Avid--- yet great films. It just so happens that Avid was the first NLE that could do the job, and the experienced editors who were already working in TV and features learned it first. Companies also made huge investments in Avid systems that they didn't want to waste. FCP has only recently caught up to Avid, but it would be very foolish to say that it hasn't caught people's attention. I know of very few editors and very few post companies who haven't attended seminars and workshops, and gawked at the cheap price tag of FCP for what it can do. Very few Avid editors haven't tried it, and very few post shops don't have a FCP suite kicking around somewhere, even if it is a guinea pig at the moment. And if you visit the editor's home... a large percentage have a copy of FCP for home use. As a matter of fact, the only shops I know here in Toronto (which is known to be an Avid stronghold) who DON't have FCP are ones that choose to be all-PC. It's not a software decision, but rather an IT decision. I like FCP--- and Avid. Lightworks is great too. But then there are many days I wish I could have my trim bin back, and see the flicker of the film passing through the Moviola. When it was such a pain to get that single frame you cut off spliced back in... you made sure it was right the first time. Less efficient system maybe--- more efficient editor certainly. Since I am writing this on a FreeDV thread, i would say if you really want to learn Avid, at least buy Xpress DV so you get a physical manual you can use, and a non-limited system you can do actual work on. But take a course on the art of EDITING... not just on how to use the software. [alert admin]

SoundApp 2.7.3 (Mac OS 9)
free--- I would pay money for its simplicity, flexibility, stability, and low-CPU usage. It's one of the best for playing stuff in the background under another app.... for free! [alert admin]

Sorry, I didn't intend to double post. My browser had trouble submitting a response to Nick's comment, so I tried to start a new one. It was only then that I realized the other one had gone through.

Hi (from developer),
Thanks for your comments. As always, please keep me up to date by email on anything you need, and any bugs you are experiencing.
The kudos, however, go to my wife and two kids... they've been incredibly patient with the late evenings and weekends developing the app over the last year.
Thanks,
Graham Jones.

Hi Hal,
I really appreciate your comments. I have worked very hard on the features that I know need to be rock solid, and I never want to miss a program either! I've never missed a program on my cable box (I tape as many as 8 shows on a busy day), and I've had iEye Captain controlling the cable box since about May of last year. I wish I could say the…

Hi,
It just occurred to me that many of the things that wouldn't work for you must be caused by Universal Access...
There are a few omissions in EyeTV's script support that forced me to use a Mac OS X feature that depends on Universal Access -- you must go into your System Preferences to the Universal Access pane, and make sure that the check box for "Enable access for assistive devices" is checked.
I forgot to mention…

Hi busterdog (from developer),
Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, I think Elgato is a great company with a great bunch of guys working for them, and I am very grateful for the way they have gone out of their way to support iEye Captain... Multiple archive support is only possible because of modifications they made in their code to support iEye Captain.
As I mentioned to the previous poster, please let me…
