Toast Titanium 9.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I burn a lot of disc images and since the upgrade to Toast 9, the previously working MacBook Pro DVD+R DL drive no longer functions. Toast customer care was useless--suggested swapping media brands (oh, btw, Sony and Memorex are unreliable brands by Roxio standards, not to mention any off brands) and slowing the recorder down--and ended up changing my burn methodology to the Disk Utility in OS X 10.5, which burned the discs fine on the same "crappy" media that Toast rejected. There's no contextual help, either. Choosing help loads a PDF document with the instructions. Also, the error codes are worthless. They don't have any information whatsoever that would help diagnose the problem for an end user. The only real value in having Toast 9 are the TiVo tools, which now work semi-reliably (they didn't work at all with HD content in version 8 and it wasn't corrected during the life of that product), and the iPod converter, which is passable but sometimes clips media on the front or end of episodic television on DVD. Not worth the money. I almost wish I hadn't upgraded from 8, which worked ok, minus the TiVo functionality. [alert admin]
