If Intuit only released this update a week ago, I would have had a much easier tax appointment. Shame on them for not doing it sooner, as backing up to a windows file was a highly touted feature of this release. This update solves the crash, no backup problem. [alert admin]

iMac G4/800, OS X 10.3.9, 768 MB RAM. I'm getting a reproducible kernel panic when clicking the "Options..." button from Quicktime and iMovie when the WMV-9 export is selected. As long as I only export using default settings, it works. Ran Diskwarrior, repaired permissions, but nothing seems to fix this. Otherwise, it's great to have this program around. [alert admin]

Sound Studio 2.2.1 (Mac OS X)
Files that worked fine with the old version of Sound Studio 2.1.1b3 no longer open properly - no waveform seen, unable to play through file. This has been a problem since version 2.2. Sometimes it works better if I open the file through the File...Open menu option versus double-clicking the file in the finder, although once the bug manifests, no file opens properly either way. Have tried trashing plist, bug persists. I believe I also tried repairing permissions. This is on an iMac G4/800 flat panel with 10.3.9. [alert admin]

Camino ExtraPrefs 1.3 (Mac OS X)
With this tool, which I mainly use for its wonderfully working if limited adblocker, the nightly Camino builds have become my default browser. Highly recommended. [alert admin]

Camino 0.8.2 (Mac OS X)
I'm not going to assign a star rating for 0.8.2, since I'm using a nightly build. The nightly build I'm using from Dec. 6 feels slightly faster, and has nicer tabs than 0.8.2. I would give this build 4 stars - if Camino had autofill, I'd give it 5 stars. Also, there was a comment here on Camino not having an ad blocker available. That's not true - I'm using Camino Extra Prefs, and it works great, even though it's a bit limited compared to AdBlock for Firefox. Get it here: http://www.nada.de/mac/camino/cep.html [alert admin]

HP PSC 900 series 6.3.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Have had problems with the driver since updating to OS 10.3.5 on an iMac G4/800. Using PSC 950. Uninstalled driver, reinstalled, repaired permissions, clean ups, nothign solves the problem. On a multi-page print, I'm only getting one page. Have to go in and submit one page at a time to printer. Extremely slow printing as well. Slowed down entire machine before the uninstall/reinstall process. HP needs to update the driver. [alert admin]

This browser is faster at rendering than Safari or Camino, etc., on many pages I've tried. However, it takes a while to start up, and I have a suspicion there's some memory leak here, because it seems to slow down my Mac after a while. On a positive note, its rendering is very similar to MSIE Windows, which makes it a great tool to use when checking out a design. Give it a spin. [alert admin]

Intuit QuickBooks Pro 6.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I can't comment on the criticism someone has going from 5.0 to 6.0, but as seomone going from 4.0 in Classic mode to 6.0 in Native mode, the upgrade rocks. As a beta tester for 6.0, I've had a few months with the new version, and am now using the final release version. I can't believe how many people give a bad review because of price complaints. I used 4.0 for 5+ years, and it was a terrific tool for managing my business. I didn't upgrade to 5.0. No one's forcing anyone to upgrade. Nothing's obsolete as long as you can use it and it does what you need it to do. 6.0 is really slick, has some cool time-saving features, and I look forward to using it for a long time. It's not perfect, of course. I agree that it should have integration with Address Book and iCal, and that there should be more options for format conversion between older Windows versions and 6.0 Mac data files. In any case, I don't think this software deserves one star. [alert admin]
