AstoundSound Expander 2.1 (Mac OS X)
WOW! Works like a charm with IT9 and SL! This what VL 1.x would have morphed to! [alert admin]

Mailplane 2.0.7 (Mac OS X)
The developer has been responsive and now MailPlane is working as advertised. It turns out that this application is very well designed and complete. MailPlane makes all the features of GMail readily accessible and easy to use. A really handy application for the heavy GMail user who wants to use this excellent Google service in an true mail-client setting on the desktop. Kudos to MailPlane's authoring team for a developing this a really useful GMail client! An excellent value for the serious GMail user. [alert admin]

Mailplane 2.0.7 (Mac OS X)
The Mac version of Mailplane 2.1b contains some icon buttons which are dysfunctional. Their recommended solution "Open your Gmail settings and enable keyboard shortcuts." Does not work in the Mac version of Gmail. I cannot recommend this app. to other users at this time. Save your money and use your browser for Gmail! [alert admin]

Opera 10.0 build 1139 alpha (Mac OS X)
In a word "spiffy"! Still has a couple of rough edges, but no show stoppers. You should see how they've improved M2, full RTF support and rock-solid performance. Trying OP 10 as my default browser and with their new rendering engine and an Acid Score of 100/100, it's pretty tough to find any major flaws in this app; it's only their first alpha release! Give OP a try. [alert admin]

Eudora 8.0.0b4 (Mac OS X)
Surprisingly fast and stable. Eurdora is again becoming a viable, feature rich, email client! Its development appears to be on the right track. Version 8 is a pleasure to use. [alert admin]

Opera 9.5.2 (Mac OS X)
Amazingly fast, stable and secure. More Mac-like than ever before. I'm giving it a shot as my default browser. I've used OPERA for the past four years and 9.5.2 is the best to date! BTW, some of OP's features take some getting use to. (I've been testing 9.5.x as betas for a couple of months.) [alert admin]

It would be nice if the folks at Joe Soft and SRS could reproduce the magic of VL. BTW, I am a registered use of both iWOW and Hear, and they can't match the excellence of VL, without a lot of fiddling with various settings by the end-user! And few of us have time for that! [alert admin]

Hear 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)
For the general listener, Hear's "Effects-Hp-ambience-S" is quite good! Enjoy! [alert admin]

Hear 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)
A truly superb application. It requires quite a bit of experimentation to master its diversity of settings for your listening requirements. However, once you get there, HEAR's reproductive qualities are excellent. [alert admin]

CORRECTION: in Mail Plane select "Standard View" in GMail; then Select "Settings", THEN: "Open your Gmail settings and enable keyboard shortcuts"; it works correctly for the Mac version of MP. BTW, this solution was found through experimentation. MP should update their "Help" information to reflect this.
