1Password 2.5 (Mac OS X)

awesome

They don't need another 5-star review, but I can't think of any complaints. Another great update - new UI, with little improvements such as a copy button when an entry is selected, something that is helpful for me. The wallet for storing credit cards separately was a needed improvement as well. [alert admin]

OmniOutliner Pro 3.6.2 (Mac OS X)

still alive?

I sure do wish there was an update. The app is great at what it does, but there's still a lot missing. It could be the king of outliners/notetaking apps with some more development. [alert admin]

Path Finder 4.7.2 (Mac OS X)

first impression - kick ass

You don't realize how pathetic the Finder is until you see a better version. I don't expect Leopard will cater to power users anymore than Tiger did, so they'll always be several steps behind Path Finder. So far it seems stable and fairly quick even on my old system. Lots of features but you don't have to use them all. [alert admin]

LaunchBar 4.3 (Mac OS X)

still the best

It might not be able to do all the things of its bloated competitor, but you rarely hear about any stability problems. It just works, and works well. [alert admin]

Camino 1.5 (Mac OS X)

looking good

I decided to return to Camino again to try 1.5, there were a few annoyances in the previous version, but so far this version is excellent. I miss a few things from Omniweb but this is just much more stable. I hope they continue to improve. [alert admin]

OmniWeb 5.5.4 (Mac OS X)

good, but problems

I've been using OW for a while, I gave up on previous versions because of stability problems. It seemed to be much improved, but those problems have returned, both crashing and sluggish behavior. Others have had the same issues (see the forums), apparently there is a fix coming soon. But I don't understand why this is such a long-standing problem with OmniWeb. I do really like many of the features, and I had no problem forking over a few bucks for it. I've tried all of the major browsers at one time or another, I was hoping OW would be the one. TAO 1.1b25e (Mac OS X)

OK compared to alternatives

This is a good app based on its available features. But it is very unpolished, it is not easy to learn, and it's slow. Despite all that, its competitors are lagging behind in features, TAO has pretty much everything on the "power outliner" wishlist (it doesn't have AppleScript yet, but I don't use it). But I must admit, I'll be using this and hoping to dump it in favor of OmniOutliner if they get their act together and add some of these features. And with TAO's sometimes slow and occasionally buggy behavior (although usually minor), I could blame the fact that it's in beta, but this thing is always in beta so that's no excuse. The last non-beta release is a completely different app, and I would not use it. [alert admin]

Does Leap replace Yep?

I've heard good things about both programs, but I haven't tried them out yet. It's not clear to me on first glance, will Leap replace Yep?

and price going up to $27.95

according to the user guide on the web site. It's a nice little app from what I can tell, but the price is a bit steep for something this simple.

Ignore

To say that it's only claim to fame is being cheaper than MS Word is totally ignorant. It would be hard to believe that you've ever even looked at their web site, let alone used the app.
