SlingPlayer 1.0.10 (Mac OS X)
I've run this on Snow Leopard and have found no problems. I have two Classics in the UK, and one AV and one SB Pro in the US. Only the SB Pro asks for a firmware update. I applied this; video appears a little sharper. [alert admin]

VMware Fusion 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Amazingly, VMware's page to upgrade from versions 1 and/or 2 to 3 is down. What a terrible advertisement for their product. [alert admin]

Why are registered users being charged the same as new users? ![]()

I certainly don't mind paying $9+ for an upgrade to this admirable little app having used it and its frequent updates for seven years without any additional payment, but why, oh why, are existing registered users being asked to pay the same as new users? Surely something like $8 for registered users and $12 for new users would have been more equitable, wouldn't it? [alert admin]

iSoftphone 2.6 (Mac OS X)
How to use instead of Vonage Companion?
I too have found iSoftphone fantastic working with a Vonage softphone number. However this means paying an extra monthly fee to Vonage for another phone number. Since Vonage made it possible to use one's home number as a softphone number, I have been using Vonage Companion. However, this software is clunky in the extreme, can't use the Address Book and is full of bugs. Does anyone know how to use iSoftphone INSTEAD of Vonage Companion. It should be possible, but I haven't found a solution yet. [alert admin]

A pathetic upgrade procedure for a technology company ![]()

I agree entirely with Mr. O'Connor. Micromat have always made it as difficult as possible to obtain updates of their products. Like him, my download threatened to take hours - and I have a 20Mbps connection! Of course, after 45 minutes, it gave up the ghost with an error and doesn't even allow me to pick up again at the same point. This happens every single time they issue an update. How do they expect people to have confidence in their product when they act as such cheapskates, particularly when they produce a product which plays around with our system software, a very dangerous area. I have lost all confidence in this company. [alert admin]

SlingPlayer 1.0.9 (Mac OS X)
I've upgraded my firmware using v1.0.9 and speeds are no longer dropping off after 2/3 minutes. Before 1.0.8 I had to use the firmware from v1.0.4 as the firmware in v1.0.6 and v1.0.7 was suspect on a Classic. This new version also works well on the Pro and AV models. The AV firmware (1.2.12) is identical to that in v2 for Windows, and the Pro firmware is actually a higher version number (1.3.36). The Pro has a marked improvement in speed over 1.0.8. The AV and Classic have not been upgraded and probably never will be as they describe them as "legacy" boxes. The software still doesn't have all the features found in the Windows version, but it's another step forward. Why are Sling so slow in giving us the extra features found in Windows v2? [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Like others, I've just found that 4.0 crashes every time I go to the Apple store. This is totally pathetic. After all the free beta testing they've had from users, how can they allow this to happen on their own store? Are they trying to lose sales as quickly as possible? [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Compared to 3.2.3 many non-cached pages take longer to load, some hang and, worst of all, quite a few unexplained crashes. 3.2.3 was rock solid. I have made no changes to my system, but find that 4.0 is not stable enough. Will revert to 3.2.3 if it doesn't improve. VERY DISAPPOINTING. [alert admin]

Adobe Reader 9.1 (Mac OS X)
Yet again Adobe demonstrate their tardiness in bringing out a new version. Their download site states this is suitable for use with OSX 10.5.5 begging the obvious question: why not 10.5.6 which has been in use for weeks - indeed the beta version of 10.5.7 is around. Too little, too late - as usual. [alert admin]

No need for such childish sarcasm. My registration info has also disappeared between versions 8.2.09 and 8.2.11 and I "upgraded" my serial info as directed in Mar 05. Now it asks for it again, but going to the URL in the explanatory box results in a misconnection. VueScan is a wonderful app, though the almost daily updates are overkill and probably for the most part designed to act as a free sales pitch. Please fix…

After upgrading my "new" Safari shows 1.2.4 (v125.11) in the "About Safari" box. Is this correct?
