CNET TechTracker app 1.0 beta 3 (Mac OS X)
First of all, I was not able to find a download link on the TechTracker site. So I was unable to download after multiple tries. Second, it hasn't scanned my computer for over a week, even though the next scan was scheduled for over 6 days ago, and I've been unable to initiate a new scan. Third, the site consistently tells me that my up-to-date apps need to be upgraded. This, even if I've upgraded, restarted, repaired permissions, and all that. So, I'd have to say that it's just about worthless. The old TechTracker app for which I paid an annual fee did the same thing, with calling apps out of date when they aren't. [alert admin]

TechTool Pro 5.0.4 (Mac OS X)
Every time I've run this, afterward programs won't open (or, sometimes, won't quit), the computer acts unstable, I have to then run Applejack or DiskWarrior to get things stable again. I don't know what happens, but it's scary to see what TechTool does to the system. It just gets weird. [alert admin]

This should be on every Mac. I've used it since Turley first released it years ago. Wonderful. Send the boy a beer! [alert admin]

AppDelete 2.1.1 (Mac OS X)
and it gets all of the hidden files. The developer is right on top of any problems and solves them almost instantly. You must do the update from within the app. in order to avoid the shareware notice. Don't download directly from VersionTracker if you're updating your paid app. [alert admin]

Hide Folders 2008 (Mac OS X)
The folders I put into Hide Folders have vanished without a trace. I'd be very cautious about using this. At least have a good backup first. [alert admin]

After installing, no Flash or QuickTime player works in Safari 2.0.4 (419.3). Permissions repaired with no fix. No apparent way to uninstall, or revert to previous version, which worked fine. [alert admin]

It remembers the settings for external drives and stops Spotlight from indexing them. An excellent app. [alert admin]
