TomTom Home 2.5.1.34 (Mac OS X)
The GPS software is good but.... ![]()

... the mac version of TomTom Home is pure crap.... Buggy as hell... not up to the par with the windows app... still not fully supporting my ONE XL bought two years ago... On top of this they provide maps outdated by several years... And their new updated map are just as outdated as the one they are supposed to replace... The new updated map I purchased one year after getting my ONE XL still does not have the corrections I have signaled to them one year ago.... And when I complained to the support, they answered me that their map where up to date (which is not the case) and that if I want up to date map I have to download corrections made by others users through their mapshare functionnality... OK so they make you pay for the hardware, pay for "up to date map" that you have to correct by yourself (or trust other users correction to the map), pay for the safety camera info... Stay away from that one if you are looking for a GPS, other brand offer better and more friendly support, really up to date maps, free safety camera info.... [alert admin]

Vine Server 3.0 (Mac OS X)
The VNC server is more flexible than OSX integrated VNC server allowing client to connect using less than millions colors improving reactivity when connecting on a machine. It has a lot of option and can be started from the command line which is nice if you don't want to have it running all the time. (you can log in through ssh to start it when needed) The server is advertised on the website a a free product (only the viewer requires a license) but it is periodically trying to connect to the port 80 on my machine even though there is no update autocheck functionality... Why on earth does it need to access port 80 for? This is an extremely upsetting and suspect behavior.... :-( [alert admin]

HyperImage 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Appears to me more stable than v1.1 (it only chrashed once during my test session when the previous version would crash almost immediatly) but still not as stable as v1.0 used to be. Though I have to admit that it does indeed appears to be faster. Some bugs fed back to the dev month ago for v1.0 still haven't been sorted out... :-( I only use it for the pic browser. With PhotogridX and Picture Arena being no longer supported by their respective devs, it feature the fairly descent Picture Browser available for the mac at the moment if you run a MacIntel... Unfortunately, the poor quality of the support from the developer ruins everythings. I have seen freewares with a better support, faster bug correction and more evolution.... [alert admin]

Picture Arena 1.3.5 (Mac OS X)
Another quitter.... Official from the dev site: "At this point no plans for future Picture Arena updates exist due to the lack of sufficient demand and a strongly changed market situation. [29/12/2007]" After letting its users wait for almost two year for a universal binaries update the dev just let them down. No more update for ACD See, PhotogridX and now picture arena.... and no potential replacement for those apps under MacOS X. The Mac is now without a solid picture browser (don't speak to me about iPhoto, Aperture, lightroom or any of the database driven app that tells you how and where to store your photos...) Very nice app, stable and fast. Does what it advertise. But still very young: - it does not offer file management capacities (copy, move or delete file) - It would be best with a file browser to quickly change the folder you are viewing. [alert admin]

Liking a product, does not allow you to be rude to others. If you have the knowledge, then be constructive and share. Barking will not bring you any respect. Posting here has not been done lightly and not without researching first. I went to their website, checked the product, support and FAQ pages... And my email has so far (yes I did send an email) not been answered... This 'feature' is not documented there nor is it…

Generaly software from this dev must be trated with great caution. All the software I have used or tested from them (I unfortunaly rely heavily on Hypermage pictures browser feature to pre-sort all my camera picture before importing in iPhoto) have prooved to be buggy and unstable as hell. The site as only one email address for all sort of issues (license, bug reporting, comments....) and the dev almost never answer to any mail. And bug reported to…

I use it mainly as a picture browser. It is the closest thing to a picture browser that is available for the macintel. And when using it as a file browser v1.1 crashes everytime I use it. I haven't tried the download part. maybe if you use it only for download this might explain why you don't have any issues...

I totally agree with the previous comment. The app though bundled with the GPS does not support completely the GPS. It does not offer the same functionalities as the windows version (in fact it offers less) and is very poorly writen.... It can download the speed camera update from my (paying) subscription to my mac but fails to install it properly on the GPS unit. And though this has been fed back to their user support, no solution has…

If you had read the read me file or the trial status dialog more carefully you would have noticed that it says: "File Buddy is a fully functionnal demo for 30 days or 10 launches, whichever gives you more time to evaluate it." That means that you will get at least 30 days and at least 10 launches. I can confirm this as I have used it for more than 10 luanches and still have 22 days of…

any way to keep background checking off? ![]()

Yeeeeessssssss, but this will keep background scan off only until the next reboot. There is no option to deactivate it by default. Plus if I forget to deactivate the background check after the reboot, I can see that it is slowly but consistently eating up disk space. The only way to recover this lost disk space is by rebooting the machine. Arghhhh!!!

From the OSXvnc FAQ. Q: The OSXvnc application launches fine the first time but after that it just bounces in the Dock and never launches? A: This is most likely because you are running APE from unsanity.org. In some situations APE can corrupt the OSXvnc bundle to the point where it can no longer function. Try adding the OSXvnc application to the "exclude" list in the Ape Manager preference pane and re-installing OSXvnc. If that does not…
