Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Was the version number updated?
Where does the installer put this RawCamera.bundle? I thought it belonged here: /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle But when I checked after the installation, "Get Info" still shows me with version 2.0.6. [alert admin]

PostCheck 1.8.2 (Mac OS X)
Tried out the (nearly) full-functioning demo after I saw PostCheck mentioned on some forum more than a year ago. Got hooked on the convenience and bought a license. Glad I did. It's one of those niche-filling pieces of shareware I use frequently...every time I add an address to my Apple Address Book. I suspect sales would increase significantly if it were priced at $5 but I'm still happy I licensed it. BTW, Brian, you should work with MacUpdate to offer it for one day at half price on their daily special board and see if a lower price (with higher sales) maximizes revenue on your particular product. I just have a feeling that $5 is the sweet spot. [alert admin]

Gizmo 4.0.0.247 (Mac OS X)
Problems with version 4 (Gizmo5.app) on PPC Mac
If you have a PPC Mac, make sure this new version works before you delete the old version 3.1.2 (I didn't). In my case, it wouldn't connect (thus 'work') on the first Mac I tried...a G4 iBook. In fact, it wouldn't Quit either...had to use Force Quit. Time Machine to the rescue...went back an hour and Restored version 3.1.2. And the restored version worked perfectly again. Promptly trashed Gizmo5 assuming that it's only been vetted on Intel Macs. [alert admin]

Apple TV 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
v 2.0.2 downloaded & installed with no problems
Downloaded 2.0.2 over a 3.5 Mbps DSL line. The progress bar said eight minutes. I didn't time it but that seemed about right for the download plus another couple minutes for the restart and install. No issues noted. In fact, I can't see much difference at all. [alert admin]

IP Scanner 2.0b10 (Mac OS X)
I was mildly surprised that it doesn't recognize Apple TV (including the manufacturer!!) considering how long TV has been available. But, of course, it's not difficult to double click on the "Unidentified Device" and assign the proper name. [alert admin]

Bean 0.9.12 (Mac OS X)
0.9.12 updates from the ReadMe ![]()

Superb free word processor which has a small footprint, opens quickly and fills in the TextEdit deficiencies. Highly recommended for times when you don't want to fire up MS Word. Version 0.9.12 (14 March 2008) Enhancements • added Full Screen mode (View > Full Screen), and Preferences for Full Screen mode (user suggestion) ⁃ this works better under Leopard than Tiger; under Tiger the title bar refuses to hide • added Preferences for new window size, zoom amount, and whether window should be centered (user suggestion) • added Font and Font Size controls in the Inspector (check ‘Preview Fonts in Menu’ to enable live preview) (user suggestion) • added improved control over Headers and Footers (MLA, APA, etc.) in Preferences (user suggestion) • added menu commands and shortcut keys to quickly move list items north or south in list (Format > List > Move Up/Down) • added keyboard shortcut for show/hide toolbar (Ctrl + Shift + T) • added Preference to un-enable Cocoa’s ‘smart cut and paste’ (which adds or removes spaces for double-clicked text selections) • added new menu item: Font > Strikethrough (shortcut: Shift + Cmd + U) (user suggestion) • added new Service menu item: Paste Selection into Current Bean Document (user suggestion) • added new Service menu item: Insert ‘Lorem Ipsum’ (which is mock-latin text used as filler for trial text layouts or templates) • Bean can now save ‘empty’ documents (for templates and so on) (user suggestion) • new menu items to Edit > Remove > Text Tables / List Markers / Attachments from Selection / All ⁃ when webpage text is copied and pasted into Bean, text tables in particular (which are used just for text layout) can screw up the output in layout mode and in PDFs (thanks to a bug in Apple’s code, which I’ve filed a bug report on [5650712]); you can remove tables, problem list attributes, or even all attachments at once using these new menu items • added Style > Remove All Styles menu item (user suggestion) ⁃ this is equivalent to the Make Plain Text followed by Make Rich Text menu item sequence in Text Edit, which people say they miss in Bean; use it for example to strip web text of all font and paragraph styles, and all tables and attachments • added Style > Match > to Default Style which will match the selected text (or the whole document if no text is selected) to the default style as defined in the Preferences • added Style > Match > to Most Common Style which will match the selected text to the most common font and paragraph styles found in that selection; if no text is selected, all styles in the document will be ‘flattened’ to the most common style • added Style > Match > to Style at Text Cursor which will propagate the style found at the blinking text cursor throughout the selected text, or throughout the document if no text is selected • added toolbar item for ‘Cut’ (user suggestion) • added menu item Format > Paragraph > Allow Hyphenation (for selected text) • added menu item Format > Paragraph > Right to Left Direction (for paragraphs of Arabic, Hebrew, etc.) (user suggestion) • drag and drop of attachments from open Bean documents works better (JPGs instead of clippings, etc.) (user suggestion) Changes • better ‘show invisibles’ code thanks to Keith Blount • Bean now opens clicked-on file URLs in Leopard (like Text Edit does) (user suggestion) • reopened documents remember to show alternate colors if saved in that state (except due to full screen preferences) (user suggestion) Bug Fixes • fixed problem with text cursor fading at edge of margin • fixed a display refresh problem following a change to File > Page Setup [alert admin]

CharView 3.8.3 (Mac OS X)
As of the time I'm writing this (0715Z), the VersionTracker link (and the link on the developer's web site) downloads the older version 3.8.2. It appears 3.8.3 isn't available now. Has it been pulled or was the announcement premature? [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Mac OS X)
Downloaded this update and the graphics update as standalones from the Apple site. Took 14 minutes for 10.5.2 on my DSL line. Both installed perfectly. I did notice that my available HDD space *increased* by slightly more than .5GB after the installs were completed and the installers were deleted. The Apple programmers must be clearing out a lot of unneeded code with this update. [alert admin]

Thanks for the review! Doesn't seem to be a piece of shareware I care to try out unless further posts prove this one to be an aberration. I particularly don't like to support developers who won't respond to customer queries/complaints.

Since you keyed on "bootable nightly backups" as seeming to be the most important feature to you, could you please explain at least "one important feature" which you believe the five-star SuperDuper! left out at a quarter of the price of Synchronize! Pro? Because I sure haven't found any missing features...not a single one.

>> could have better integration Could you elaborate on that please? Because I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I started using SpamSieve after the freeware JunkMatcher stopped being updated and I don't know how it could be any simpler or better integrated. The auto-installer takes care of everything and the software is virtually hands-off for most people...unless the user has some special requirement. And then you go to the excellent SpamSieve Manual, or…

This is the craziest post I've ever seen...yes, it's a TROLL post. 1Password is rock solid! Fear not, it won't screw up your Apple Keychain and is the most productive timesaver you can load on your computer. I've been using it since it first came out...and have uploaded/used every update...including this one.

Advantage over Bonjour Browser?
True. IP Scanner's nice formatting costs you 25 bucks while Bonjour Browser provides the same info...and more; albeit, without an easy-to-read-at-a-glance table. Still...Bonjour Brower is free which makes it the app of choice for infrequent users with more than four wireless devices on their local network.

Adds from Address Book w/out Permission!
Go to Prefs --> General and Uncheck the box "Show Address Book Contacts." Now wasn't that simple? And as a gesture of thanks, you can give the app a five star.
