LineIn 2.0.3 (Mac OS X)

It Simply WORKS...

...and that's what truly matters, in the olden days prior to OS X, the "Pass Thru" function of the "Line in Input" was easily setup, nowadays unfortunately, this is not as easily done, yes you may still access your Audio MIDI Setup located in .../Applications/Utilities/, but even that doesn't always provide the necessary amplification results needed to effectively use a Mac's Line In input (e.g. with a generic non-USB microphone, or in order to listen to your tunes or videos saved in your iPods thru your Mac's speakers.) I highly recommend LineIN and its developers at Rogue Amoeba Software, LLC, a company with which I am not associated in any way whatsoever, except as a happy customer, the price (FREE) cannot be beat. I've successfully used this app in my Mac laptops: 15" MacBook Pro C2D 2.16 GHz 15" MacBook Pro C2D 2.33 GHz [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.7 (Mac OS X)

STAY AWAY from this GARBAGE...

... or you will regret not heeding my advise, apparently, the Logitech folks haven't a clue as to what's expected of any Mac software, perhaps their crappy software meets the standards of the WinBlows world, but in the Macintosh universe, they fall far short. Users would be better off using Mac OS X's built in settings for Logitech peripherals or any proven shareware from independent developers. [alert admin]

Demeter 1.0.9 (Mac OS X)

Demeter is a great browser

I have been using Demeter since it was called Super Shiira, if my memory serves me well, I believe that was back during the Beta release days of 1.0bxx. I must confess that I am not a WebKit fan, I much prefer Gecko, which is why my primary browser is Camino, nevertheless, I have been highly impressed with Super Shiira and its Demeter incarnation, so much so, that it has become my second most favorite browser, it beats the pants out of Firefox for Macintosh. I can't wait to see what a wonderful browser Demeter becomes as it progresses, kudos to the developer for his dedication and that results that his hard work has accomplished. [alert admin]

Vienna 2.2.0.2206 (Mac OS X)

Panther Compatibility Commentary

Vienna is an excellent RSS News Reader, however, V 2.2.0.2206 which works flawlessly on my MacBook Pro C2D OS X 10.4.10, does not work on Panther (10.3.9 PPC,) the latest version of 2.1.3 (2111) does indeed work fine on OS X 10.3.9. [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.6 (Mac OS X)

Flawless Update

V 2.0.0.6 updated and has worked flawlessly on my Power Mac, I have not yet had the opportunity to update my PowerBook or my MacBook Pro C2D, I'll update my feedback after I get them updated. Usage Tip: mirgilwin1, I'd recommend that you try disabling any extension(s) that you may have, I experienced the same issue that you've indicated with a previous upgrade earlier this year, one of the extensions that I had was the culprit, after I disabled it I no longer experienced the glitch. IP Scanner 1.7.1 (Mac OS X)

IP Scanner is an excellent tool...

...for network administrators like me, as well as, for all Mac users who are interested in knowing the particulars (i.e., connected devices, specific IP assignments, etc.) of their networks. Version 1.7.1, which was released just two days after V 1.7, quickly resolved the issue that prevented some routers (Linksys in my case) from being displayed on the device(s) list, now every single device that I have connected to my network, both wired and wireless, is detected. Kudos to the developers (Mark, Paul, Eric, etc.) not only for creating this excellent tool, but also for quickly patching up and improving the previous release(s). Concerning the shareware license fee, perhaps offering a tiered fee schedule (e.g., $15.00 for up to eight devices and $25.00 for more than eight) would make it easier for potential registered users to be convinced to pay for this tool. Mozilla Firefox 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Firefox 2.0 is Buggy

I downloaded it as soon as it became widely available, although I was aware that it was available via FTP before its "Tuesday, 24th October 2006 Release." I performed the usually recommended maintenance procedures prior to installation, nevertheless, Firefox 2.0 did not work correctly on any of my PPC Macs (PwrMac G4 MDD 1.25GHz X2, OS 10.3.9 & PwrBook 17" 1.67GHz, OS 10.4.7), specifically impossible to dismiss, is the inability to properly display ANY pages visited within the parameters of the window and/or tab where it should be, all pages and tabs were displayed at the extreme left end of the viewable window/tab, within a 1/4 of an inch wide vertical area. Reverted to 1.5.0.7 which had always worked without a glitch and still does. I cannot yet recommend 2.0. [alert admin]

Serious memory hog

Mr. Capone, are you experiencing this RAM issue on a PPC, or an Intel Mac? In my case, I've noticed that with usage being similar on two similarly configured Macs, one a PPC and the other an Intel, Demeter's memory usage is proportionally greater on the PPC Mac, nevertheless, Demeter does not approach a "RAM hog" status on any of my four Macs. It may well be that your opinion about WebKit being…

Works well here

It appears that the problems that others have mentioned and to which you've referred, are focused on Leopard (10.5.X) and not on Tiger. I have not experienced any problems with this version of Adobe Reader (8.1.2) on any of my Macs (i.e., Power Mac G4 MDD 1.25 GHz X2, 10.4.10; 17" PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz, 10.4.10; 15" MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz, 10.4.10; 15" MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz, 10.4.10)

Oy...

McGuffin, please indicate your system profile, as well as, haxies if applicable. It seems as if you may have had a temporary software or hardware glitch, that as s_morgan indicated, coincided with your Camino launch.

Weird Behavior

Gene, you seem to have experienced the same glitch that I described on my post (second post below yours,) 2.0 DID display pages, however, as I mentioned on my previous post such display was difficult to discern, given the fact that the pages were crushed within a 1/4 of an inch wide window along the entire vertical length of the left side of the display area, anything to the immediate right of the aforementioned area…
