The new Eudora 6.0b18 beta adds some great features. The junk mail filter has worked flawlessly so far. The new Mailboxes drawer is a welcome addition. The drawer is also a good compromise between the age-old but efficient interface and keeping up with other e-mail clients. Would be nice if we could choose to have the drawer on the left as well. Eudora continues to be the most powerful and flexible e-mail client on Mac OS X. [alert admin]

Palm Desktop 4.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Palm Desktop 4.1 went smoothly for me under OS X 10.2.5. It worked with my Palm IIIxe, connected via a Keyspan USB PDA Adapter (1.4b3 driver), on the first try. Palm Desktop is still much quicker than Apple's iCal and iSync, so I'll keep using it. It might not be Aqua-pretty, but it works. PS: Palm should replace the iMac/Palm V logo with something new. Apple Mac OS X 10.2.5 (Mac OS X)
flawlessly on my iBook/500. However, the shortened battery life problem that appeared with 10.2.4 does _not_ seem to have been resolved. [alert admin]

Eudora X 5.2.1 (Mac OS X)
looks? Not me! Power is my overriding priority for an e-mail program. Eudora is more powerful and robust than any other Mac e-mail app. At the end of the day Eudora is indispensable to me. Therefore I prefer slow but safe developement over any crazy "improvements" for the sake of blending in with OS X. [alert admin]

MetricMaster 4.0.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
nearly unlimited choice of units for conversion. However, being able to combine units would make MM even more useful. E.g. letting the users convert oz/yd2 into g/m2 in one step would be invaluable. MM was very unresponsive on my iBook/500/320 running OS X 10.2.4. It looks like MM 4.0.4 was just carbonized and still needs more work to make it the nice OS X app it can be. This is a good app, but there is room for improvement. [alert admin]

Studycard Studio Lite 1.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Studio Lite. It works very well and offers a plethora of options for creating cards. Brilliant! However, as far as I can tell, there is no option to import existing cards from another application. This would be a great feature for a future version. E.g. I would love to be able to import a quiz created for Quizzler on the Palm platform into Studycard Studio (see http://www.deering.org/quiz/ for the file I want to import). [alert admin]

WeatherPop Advance 1.7 (Mac OS X)
the release of WeatherPop 1.7. It's still my favorite and only weather app. According to MacNN, WeatherPop 2.0 is due in 4-8 weeks (from 3/11/03). I'm curious to see what improvements Glu will incorporate. [alert admin]

Camino 0.7.0 (Mac OS X)
Camino/Chimera is still by far the fastest and most useable OS X browser on my system. Kudos to the developers for the smooth name transition. I'm looking forward to the incorporation of the Mozilla 1.3 trunk for even more speed and standards compliance. [alert admin]

is officially named Camino, we'll hopefully see Camino 0.7 soon. RIP Chimera. :-( Long live Camino! Regardless of name, this is still by far the best OS X browser. [alert admin]

Taco HTML Edit 1.2.0 (Mac OS X)
Bones has killed BBEdit Lite (as of 25-Feb-03), Taco is even more attractive. A palette for HTML tags instead of a pull-down menu might be more user friendly. [alert admin]
