MenuMeters 1.3 (Mac OS X)
Network Menu Meter Sporatic Disappearing Problem
Occasionally when I restart my machine, the network menu meter disappears from the menu bar and the "Display Network Menu Meter" button becomes unchecked under the Network tab of the MenuMeters System Preference pane. When I re-check it, the network menu reappears and everything is fine (at least until the next several re-starts or so). What could the problem be? I am using the latest OS 10.4.6. Other than that, I simply love this application. [alert admin]

This is one of the coolest programs I've seen in a while. Very useful if you are really curious about what goes on when you click on something and wonder what is being accessed. I've been subconsciously looking for this type of program for a while and I actually stumbled on it when it was subtly mentioned in a Mac troubleshooting forum. Maybe a more catchy name would make it more noticeable and popular (and possible convince the programmer to develop it more). How about a name like "Revelator" or something. (It's just a thought). Encrypt This 1.0b5 (Mac OS X)
When I drop a folder on this, it asks for the location of Progress.app. What is that? I am using OS X version 10.4.6. [alert admin]

TechTool Pro 4.0.5 (Mac OS X)
I don't know what happened but the Techtool Pro 4.0x app won't load after installation. Fixed permissions after installation, turned journaling off beforehand, threw away all parts, reinstalled...nothing works. I actually got version 4.04 to open up one time, then I closed it, and it wouldn't open up again. I'm scared to boot my computer up with this thing, if I can't even open it up from the inside. I've used earlier versions for years and I counted on it for reliable computer maintenance but now, I just don't know. Computer specs: dual 1GHz MDD G4, OS 10.3.9, 2Gb RAM, 3 internal HDs, 1 AlchemyTV pci card, GeForce4 Ti 4600 video card. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4 (Mac OS X)
Well why not let us know what is coming up the pipeline? After all, it is called VersionTracker not RatingsTracker. I'm looking forward to Tiger, but I probably won't buy it for a few months until I'm sure it is stable and useful. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2005-002 (Mac OS X)
Wow! When I restarted after installing the update, I got a bunch of text on my "Apple" startup screen and then a message to restart. I had to restart using my Techtool Pro 4 disk and attempt to fix the problem. I'm not sure if I fixed the problem yet (but obviously I am here writing this message) because I tried to use Cocktail to repair permission after I finally got it to restart and it crashed half way thru. I never had a kernel panic after an update before. [alert admin]

Law and Order 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Well, in my previous comments I had high hopes that the update to this game would fix the java version problems. Unfortunately, this game has been returned (back) to my bookshelf because it just doesn't work consistently enough to even get thru gathering evidence. It freezes and stalls at too many places and is too unpredictable to be able to pin down the problem. I have also read many complaints on the Law and Order games forum site (both PC and MAC) that echo my own. This venture into java-based game play is a poor, poor effort. If you want a crime investigation game that actually works "out of the box", get a copy of CSI. [alert admin]

Halo 1.0.5.3 (Mac OS X)
Love this game. But, the patch does not clear up a problem with the zoom function with FSAA turned on and/or Nvidia NV+ Vertex Shaders turned on. Now, in addition to the zoom function showing a "fuzzy view", a black square appears in the upper left corner of the screen (it appears to be duplicate of the radar screen), and the water has some wierd artifacts floating in it. The details of my machine are: dual 1GHz MDD G4, 1 Gb RAM, nVidia Geforce4 Ti 4600 video card, OS 10.3.5. [alert admin]

C*cktail and Mac Pilot come to mind as well. But you have to pay for those and they are well worth paying for. (Odd that the word c*ck is censored in my comment considering that it is a software title and not meant to be degoratory).

Ditto. I'm glad it wasn't just me. I went back to version 4.2.0 real quick.

I too get nauseous when I play Alien vs. Predator...even when I play the Marine. I'm glad I'm not alone...something about the view angle or something. I had to stop playing it because of it.
