Apple iTunes 5.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Solid

I this version, like nearly every other one, is one of the most stable pieces of software that I have ever used. Crashes are nonexistant. The basic usage is simple, just about anyone can figure out how to use it in minutes. The interface with the music store is seamless (even though I very rarely purchase anything). Of the new features in this version, I like having both the time elapsed and time remaining in the header. It's a minor thing, but I really like it. There are plenty of add-ons, if you wish to customize, via 3rd parties. This piece of software just works. It does just what I want it to, nothing less, and a bit more. [alert admin]

Okay, maybe "Whoaa" is an overreaction. Could use more stuff, or could it? [alert admin]

good question

I have seen the "mystery rating" before on this site. I wonder if there is a VT moderator out there that can explain this to us. I will be checking this out as I have numerous airports to administer. [alert admin]

Boogie-Woogie 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Nifty!

Well done. No installer on the 2.0 version. Agree that a "random" would be the cherry on the sundae. [alert admin]

Patience 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Patience

Patience? ain't kidding! l o n g time to download. It works almost as well as the built in solitaire in windows and looks a lot like it. Has an added feature of picking a background image from some supplied .jpgs. I'm sure the cards can be customized too, comes with 2. Needs some polish, maybe a more mac-like interface. Razzledazzle: no worries, that's why you have a Mac. [alert admin]

Boggle 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

right...

really slow download. so then i am clicking around, nothing happens, so i read the manual(!) and it sez: "Get pen, paper and some friends," where the heck am i supposed to get those things? it provides no suggestions on where to get "Get pen, paper and some friends," so i suppose i can't really rate the application on whether it works well or not. i guess it doesn't crash, so that's good, i guess. DAVE 5.0p1 (Mac OS X)

No, not needed

ewelch: as a Network Admin in a mid-size cross platform environment (150 servers running W2K and osX server, 6000 workstations, 30% Macs, the rest win98 and w2k pro) and I do indeed, know what I am talking about. Dave is not needed, nor has it been for quite some time. There are far better ways of accomplishing cross-platform networking for far less money, sure, there are limitations, but free is a greater motivator for us than elegance. Previous versions also had quite intensive licensing management, hopefully, that has been fixed. [alert admin]

It's supposed to run on a server

Actually, it is email server software, but it will run on a Mac workstation. It is available in many flavors, so make sure you download the appopriate Mac (PPC or Intel) .dmg file. There is a .pkg in there. Run that. Warning: not for the feint of heart.

Still a great product

Selfinflicted Drama: There was a port. It was called MacAmp. You didn't support it enough so it died. Us not having a "choice" is your fault.

Bad Look.. I'll downgrade to 4.x

So the changes aren't big, and it still works well, but it has minor appearance changes, so you give it one star? That makes no sense. You didn't go to Apple's site and look at what was new with this version, yet you dowloaded it and installed it? Wow, just wow. Good thing you don't have a PC, and just install things willy-nilly like that, or you would be sharing your personal information around the…

Dear idiotic brother...

So why not use WinAmp? Knock yourself out. Enjoy, go give it a stellar review in the appropriate forum. FLAC is not a "wide known format". That is why the support for it is not there. I have heard of it, but I am betting most users of iTunes, or even WInAmp never have. You have an "expensive" piece of shareware for it? Well then, by definition, it is not shareware. Why the hell would I…
