Inquisitor 3.2 (v62) (Mac OS X)
I gave up on this when it got stuck on Yahoo. Found Glims and it does the same thing and more. So, why bother with Inquisitor? [alert admin]

VacuumMail 0.9.6 (Mac OS X)
Less fussy than SpeedMail. If you don't need the handholding you can even open the package contents, retrieve the applescript, modify it, and use it on its own. [alert admin]

MainMenu 2.0.0 (Mac OS X)
MM was a handy utility. I like to have as few menu items cluttering up my menu--even though I use Menu Eclipse. While other free utilities do what MM does/did, it is convenient as a menu item. Now, with some minor changes, the developer is charging $20. As if that is not bad enough, you get nagged to register. And, I have got a message saying that "the security of MainMenu has been breached" and I need to download and install a new copy. In the span of 4 days, I have had this problem 3 times! This is ridiculous. I am permanently uninstalling this piece of s***. PS The best way to run the cron scripts is to have the free PseudoAnacron set to open at login. [alert admin]

Stox 1.3 (Mac OS X)
Pros: Lots of useful features. Can set options separately for each stock. Can include multiple sources of information, etc. Cons: Set up is not elegant. Had to figure out to use Get Info for each stock in order for charts to work. Would be nice to have a global setting that can be overridden for individual stocks. Also, while overlays are displayed on one chart alone for Charts and News, for Technical Charts, there are many overlay options but each in displayed in its own graph. Very messy. [alert admin]

iStock 1.5.3 (Mac OS X)
iStock has some nice features and is a useful if simple app. A major annoyance is that it does not retain the overlay choices between launches. However, I have given up on iStock because today I found that my half of my portfolios had disappeared! Thankfully, the individual stocks are still in the general list. But, I have permanently lost all information about date of purchase, price, etc. Be careful if you are relying on iStock to track your stocks! [alert admin]

iTweax 1.08 (Mac OS X)
iTweak has a few features that Onyx does not but Onyx has a lot more features all of which work. Better than Onyx? I don't think so! If you only want to automate the running of the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly scripts use PsuedoAnacron and set it to run automatically on login. [alert admin]

Isolator 4.0 (Mac OS X)
I had to track down the developer. [Why Versiontracker does not have contact on the app's page or why the developer does not have contact information on his home page is a mystery.] The trick to avoiding the crash is to completely delete the previous version of Isolator. Delete the app and its pref file. Then install the latest version. Unfortunately, you will have to do this every time you update. [alert admin]

Scid 3.7.1 (Mac OS X)
A bad joke? 1. The patched version 3.7.1 would not launch on my PowerBook G4 w 10.5.6. 2. The nonpatched version did but the interface is ugly and cluttered with way too many icons and menu options that do not make intuitive sense. 3. I tried playing a game on FICS. The chessboard and pieces are nice looking but SCID was making moves I did not intend. I barely clicked on a piece and it would jump to a weak square. The options need to be simplified and organized and the defaults need to make sense. As it is, I find it unusable. [alert admin]

Isolator 3.41beta (Mac OS X)
The previous beta version worked fine. The latest one brings back the problem of the app hanging when setting preferences. [alert admin]

MenuCalendarClock for iCal 3.1.6 (Mac OS X)
Slows down and even makes my system [PowerBook G4 with 10.5.6] unresponsive. If only High Priority were compatible with Leopard! sigh... [alert admin]

Er ... One of is confused and it isn't me. I had to dig around to find your contact information. When I contacted you, YOU told me that the only way to deal with the bug was to delete the preferences and the app. I have managed fine without Isolator. I think I'll keep it that way.

Worse than I had thought. All of my stocks mysteriously disappeared from iStock. I found the xml files on my hard drive but this in no way helped me recover my purchase details. AVOID iStock at all costs!

How true. Please developer(s) create similar programs for checkers, go, and shogi. PS There probably is a setting to adjust click response time or whatever but why do I have to hunt for it?

But this "open in a new window" feature is clumsy. Two page, "like an open notebook" view is what they should add as an option. And when you flip a page, you see the next two pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are no longer in the days of small computer screens.

"iGTD has AT beat in the looks department." Are you kidding? iGTD is cluttered and ugly. AT is sleek. Two improvements would make it positively elegant. 1. Allow projects to be nested. 2. Have the info box slide out as a drawer rather than into the window.

I don't know about IMovie but it is Xslimmer that leaves lots of localization files untouched for no apparent reason. ML gets them all!
