Vienna 2.3.4.2305 (Mac OS X)
I am looking for a replacement for NetNewsWire since its MobileMe syncing will be dropped (and Google Reader is not a consideration for me). Although Vienna lacks some of the features of NNW, it is serviceably clean and crisp. After a few days of testing I feel quite comfortable with it. Since it is open source, I may even try my hand at some hacking. Additionally, AppleScript support is perfectly adequate for accessing APIs like Twitter, tumblr, Instapaper, et al, and its database can presumably be rsync'd to other machines using launchd, and so on. All in all, a nice piece of software and worth your time for a few days test drive. I hope the Vienna developers see the current direction of NNW as an opportunity for them to have the #2 reader people will be looking for. [alert admin]

Dupin 1.3.3 (Mac OS X)
iTunes 7.7.1, released on July 30, 2008, introduced an issue whereby tracks and files cannot be removed or deleted by Dupin during the Purge operation. I expect to have an update to Dupin with a workaround very soon. [alert admin]

Rip To iPod 1.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I'm the developer. Due to a possible bug introduced in iTunes 7, Rip to iPod will not work correctly. iTunes 7 does not recognize a selection of individual CD tracks and instead will import the entire CD. Until Apple addresses this bug, I do not recommend using this with iTunes 7. [alert admin]

iTunes Library Manager 4.2 (Mac OS X)
I'm the developer. Several Correspondents have noticed a bug in version 4.2 regarding the naming of loaded libraries. I hope to have a fix soon. In the meantime, refrain from downloading version 4.2. If you have downloaded 4.2 and have a bug to report, please email me at the address you will find in the Read Me. Thanks! [alert admin]

iCal Calling iTunes! 3.5 (Mac OS X)
The current version of iCal Calling iTunes! is rendered useless by iCal v2.0, which has removed the "status" option from the Event's Info Window. iCal 2.0 no longer uses the "status" option in an Event's Info window which limits the functionality of iCal Calling iTunes! This presents me with a problem since the "status" option controlled how a Playlist scheduled in an Event is handled. [alert admin]

iTunes Library Manager 4.1 (Mac OS X)
For about fifteen minutes after the new entry was posted here on Version Tracker, the old 4.0 ".sit" file was still being served. This has been corrected. And also, to get this note posted, I've had say that I recommend iTLM. I think this is a given, but I don't wish to appear overly self-promoting. - Doug [alert admin]

A future version will accommodate /Library/iTunes/Scripts, ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/iTunes, and /Library/Scripts/Applications/iTunes. I am not only thorough, but cautious.

Here's the line I didn't like from Gruber: "...injects code into every Cocoa application you launch." No thanks!!!

Export/Import Scripts Work With iTunes 7
The Export/Import AppleScripts still work with iTunes 7. If all you want to preserve is ratings and play counts, then there is no need to remove them. However, they have not been included in the recent package because I have not finished updating them for use with iTunes 7, which also has last played date, bookmarkable, shufflable, skip count, and last skipped date tags to consider, not to mention the latest TV Show, Movie and…
