Audience overreaction, but it is a big problem.
The developer here basically just screamed fire in his own theater. I just wanted to point out that it won't kill you if you enter the _wrong_ serial, just one from a list of illegal ones. On the other hand, if it's close to yours and you enter it wrong...yeah. I hate piracy as much as the next guy, but this is just ridiculous. [alert admin]

play 1.1 (Mac OS X)
It says that it plays audio files...and it plays audio files. No strings attached, no bugs, no feature creep. You just say "play x"...and it plays. whee. [alert admin]

RAFN OS 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
1. By calling it an OS, you are automatically making people laugh at you. Do not call it an OS, because it is not one in any way. Call it a "suite" instead. 2. Change the title, because anything with your name in it (with the exception of the name "zapperdoodle") makes you sound like you either are a horrible self-promoter or else you're under the age of 14. 3. This is a Mac app. It should work like one. Just follow the friggin' interface standards! 4. I refuse to enter my email address into your program. Not doing so makes it crash. BAD. 5. It's not "UNIX compressed." It's a disk image. DMG is actually a bigger file size, too. [alert admin]

Virtue 0.5r2 (Mac OS X)
Good app, but unfortunately, I must compare it do Desktop Manager and find fault in its interface. It takes longer to start up, has a bigger (if insignificant) file size, and has a less desirable interface. However, it's still a good app. I'd just recommend Desktop Manager over it. [alert admin]

Desktop Manager 0.5.3 (Mac OS X)
Nout, the answer to your question which I have concocted goes along the following lines. DM uses low-level-ish UNIX-y things to do the desktop switching. These don't require much memory. OS X, being built on the UNIX-y stuff, recognizes that it doesn't have to calculate the drawing crap for all the unseen background windows. As long as you're not using Apple's latest super-dee-duper graphics technology and a recent graphics card, this takes some weight off of the CPU, thus giving Safari more thinky time.

Following that rather-lengthy-for-a-VT-comment review, here's my actually comment on the actual product, which I have been using for some months now:

Try it or else I will beat you with a large spiky stick.

It increases productivity by decreasing visual clutter, gives actual computer speed a tiny boost, has just enough settings for me to tweak, works flawlessly, is open source, and looks good to boot. Props to the developer for making such an incredible piece of awesomeness. [alert admin]

Dungeons of Omaz 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
It's hardly fair to give someone a 1-star review without even telling them what was really wrong. Exactly how far did you get? What happened before the crash? Was there any sound at all? [alert admin]

BMaxCode beta 2 (Mac OS X)
I had a friend send it to me in sitx. I'm using StuffIt Expander 8.0.2 and Mac OS X 10.3.7. Anyways, the app is all right, but the Read Me needs some structure instead of just being this big menacing block of text that I have to read. And why the 15-minute time limit? [alert admin]

> Do you also tend to not follow traffic laws, in order to bring creativity back to driving?
Exactly my point. Apple wrote up the interface guidelines for a reason, and that reason is so that (almost) all Mac apps will look/feel similar to make it easier on users, and to save them from "creative" developers who actually make things harder to use by rejecting the standard.
