RipIt 1.3.0 (Mac OS X)
MBP 2.0GHZ UNDER 10.6.2 Ripit says 1.2.12 is available, but will never download anything. 1.3.0 not seen. As a paid user, I dislike being unable to download and use a new version due to 'binary tailoring'. [alert admin]

Xslimmer 1.7.4.1 (Mac OS X)
This would suddenly become more worth buying if it would identify non-universal binaries & refuse to strip them of code (specifically, XSlimmer can't say 'oops, this is only PPC code, better NOT strip the PPC code from this file!, or User won't be able to run it at all'. Allowing to the user to brute-force it is tolerable, but more in line w/ freeware than payware. [alert admin]

RipIt 1.2.6 (Mac OS X)
I've had very little problem getting RipIt to rip it: however, most of my rips, when burned to dick (these *are* back-up copies, which means I use them instead of the originals) won't play in stand-alone DVD players. It's to the point where, despite having paid for RipIt, I depend on FairMount: no matter how long it takes, the results are always satisfactory. That said, it's a totally gorgeous pgm, clearly a lot of work has been put into it, and I know the devs are devoted to their product. Time will tell. [alert admin]

For a one-trick pony, this outfit certainly thinks well of themselves - they seem to have earned the Dick Cheney MBA.. By using this software, YOU are agreeing to be legally *and financially* liable to the authors...who also want a premium rate for their one-trick pony - and for hanging their customers by the short-and-curlies. And haven't I heard about "Gravity Software" before? DO NOT WANT [alert admin]

HandBrake 0.9.3 (Mac OS X)
I've used FFMPEGX for years for all my conversion needs - not perfect, fairly complex, but works great when it works. Recently been looking for a more 'general-purpose' converter/processor; tried some things, but - meh. Downloaded Handbrake yesterday, and WOW! FAST, CPU-friendly, smartly-designed, works seamlessly, lots of smart user-friendly touches. Works on anything. A joy to use - applause to the crew! Well-done, gentlebeings! [alert admin]

iSMARTtrain 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)
if you are a martial artist, in physical training or weight-lifting - r indeed anything other than a swimmer, runner, or cyclist, this will be worthless to you. It is quite inflexible in this regard. I suspect it's excellent for the intended user, but they impose too narrow a definition of "training". A shame - I'd very much like to try this if it ever chooses to broaden its view of acceptable activities. [alert admin]

Not perfect, but okay, until I printed the list. No matter ehat I do, I cannot make the list print in a way that will fit on a single sheet...and NO I don't mean lengthwise - it prints 2 pages per screen-full, ignores the paper size, ignores the font size, ignores everything I tell it & does exactly what it wants, which is apparently to waste hundreds of sheets of paper & who-knows-how-much toner, leaving me with a completely useless result. I will never use this program again, nor will I use anything else by this author. [alert admin]

Roxio Popcorn 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Cannot log in to Roxio's wretched site
Roxio really does offer a nonexistent level of support: their website is one of the worst online experiences available. For example, I clicked the link for the new.ver which took me to their site; I cut+Pasted the login and password from my Roxio confirmation, click 'Login', and nothing happens. Nothing at all happens. It could be incompetence, it could be indifference: I no longer care. I've completely written them off at this point: I will use Toast T6 and Popcorn for as long as they continue to function, but I will not waste any more of my life or my resources attempting to get ANY kind of service from them. Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Deeply disappointed in Adobe...
PE 4 is a perfect example of Adobe's attitude toward the Mac market. Guess they want to be the monopoly power of creative productivity. Fine: I bought 2, and I bought 3 - I will not buy 4. I was all set to, and eagerly looking forward to it...then this: perhaps the most transparent "up yours" from a company to its customers since Commodore abandoned external expansion for the Amiga I will stay with PE 3 and Macromedia Studio as long as they give decent performance under Rosetta; by then Adobe will have repaired their attitude, the DoJ (or EU) will have disallowed the absorption of Macromedia as monopolistic (that will take a different administration in Washington), or I'll do without. Your "report" is useless: nothing in it will help anyone who shares your problem, so thanks for the meaningless tantrum. VLC is behaving normally (and appropriately) on my 1st-gen MBP under 10.6. VLC is therefore *not* useless - Q.E.D.

If I had a dollar for every time Transmission has crashed, quit or locked up, I'd...still be waiting for my first dollar. You, my friend, have more problems than what you think this program is doing, but feel free to learn nothing & howl loudly. I'm *SURE* that will make everything better for you.

The final result is all that matters
the inability to consistently provide rips that can be burned then viewed on a standalone player means RipIt is not yet a functional product. It's a bloody shame (yes, I paid for it), but it's true nonetheless.

I may well BE confused - it's happened before. However, ALL imported text is a very pale lavendar(?) which I cannot read against the page - and it is extremely annoying that for every text bit I add, I have to bring up the color wheel, select the text, and change it that way. Since I have to do it EVERY TIME to be able to read (ie, use) anything I add, it becomes a burden…

That may be the point There seem to be no ways for me to tell Notebook what fonts & sizes & styles I want as defaults. I for one have spent much more time than I want changing the color of clipped text so that I can read it. This isn't just irritating, it's actually offensive, given that CoreText has greatly simplified implementing these controls in programs of all type. I bought 2.4, and upgraded…

Are you not very good at your job, or just very good at complaining? Neither of my Macs (PMG4MMD, MBP rev2) or any the macs I help administer (PB-Ti 17", PB-Al 12", iBook G4, Mini rev 1) have had ANY trouble running under Leopard. If you want to be useful - or just taken seriously, talk like you know what you're talking about, 'kay? In all events, you & yours are not "EVERYBODY" Thanks for playing!
